gary gordon 1,777
Chelsea set to make final £25m Neymar offerChelsea plan to step up their pursuit of highly-rated Brazilian striker Neymar by tabling a £25 million take-it or-leave-it offer with Santos in the next 24 hours.Representatives of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich are currently in Brazil attempting to resolve an escalating row over the 18-year-old who recently made his debut for the Selecao.Chelsea had a £17 million bid for Neymar rejected last month and are set to follow it up with a £25 million final offer, but that still might not be good enough as Santos are holding out for the £29.6 million buyout clause in his contract. The Brazilian giants won't budge from their stance despite Neymar - who has publicly expressed doubts about leaving - privately informing his club that he wishes to join Chelsea. According to Soccernet sources close to the deal, the economic rights of the player are owned by investors, who believe that they need to persuade Neymar to sign a new contract because his value has already soared to beyond his buyout price. An insider told Soccernet: "There is a big fight still on to convince Santos to part with the player. There is strong pressure on the boy to stay."In the next few days we shall know one way or the other whether a deal with Chelsea can be achieved."Chelsea have been caught up in an amazing tug-of-war for Neymar, with Santos threatening to report them to FIFA for tapping up the striker. But the source said: "The President of Santos had dinner with agent Pini Zahavi and the people from Chelsea. How can that be tapping up?"The boy was forced to go onto Brazilian TV to say he wants to stay with Santos, when the truth is that he wants to go to Chelsea."Soccernet

Jose M 140
Daily MailWagner Ribeiro admitted that Neymar was torn between joining one of the best teams in the world or staying at the club he loves for a few more years. 'The numbers offered by Santos cannot be compared with Chelsea,' said the agent. 'But Santos put together a wonderful career strategy for Neymar. 'I've never seen anything like it, but his family are the ones who will make the decision. Leave and he will achieve economic independence, stay and he can play for the team he supports. 'Neymar and his father have personality. They know what they want and will decide. The father has been a player and did not realise all his dreams. 'You can only become the world's best by playing in Europe, but there you also play with the best in the world"Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1304367/Neymar-torn-Chelsea-move.html#ixzz0x2noYytr

chrismada9 1,948
I am strongly getting the distinct feeling that he won't be joining us this summer. I think that Santos are demanding way too much money for the player. Besides, we have the likes of Sturridge and Kakuta on our books at the moment who are next to good enough for this season. It won't be the end of the world if Neymar doesn't come to us.

EskWeston 696
So many conflicting reports on this saga, conflicting quotes from the agent, from Santos and the player himself. For some reason i am (deluded) optomistic of this going through, i have no idea why but i just think it may go through in the end.
Peace. 4,352
Em I don't have any definite idea, but they could be Luiz and GansoI believed it's Ganso... If I remember, we've been already linked with him about this winter.Futhermore he's a kind of player which we need. So it could be him. But, if we don't want trigger Neymar's clause, we won't buy Ganso because Santos wants 50M euros.

Madmax 9,219
Could mean either of the two : 1. Neymar isn't ready (football-wise) to play in England.2. Neymar does not want to go to England.

Joe Cool 388
Same, but maybe Neymar values what Pele says.Maybe, but I wouldn't be gutted if we don't get him. They want 30 million for an unproven youngster??? There's plenty of other options out there that are also well cheaper.
