Yes it's only preseason and yes it's only for fitness. But I couldn't help but wonder today, why in the hell are we sending this guy out on loan but keeping Van Ginkel who looked like he was struggling with some basic passes?!

I was thinking exactly that! Josh was passing into pockets of space with ease whilst MvG was struggling to go forward.

That's the thing I love about Joshy's game is that he always looks to go forward with fast and decisive passing that unlocks doors and turns defences inside and out.

Im not saying start him in a Champions League semi final at the Allianz Arena, but he could be useful against team's like Hull especially who will park the jumbo jet infront of their goal.

It's all part of the development process, first give him the job of helping break down stubborn defenses, then slowly work on his defensive side, he's still 20 so there's no rush.

how would a loan spell help him? the last 2 definitely did not. more over the point of having a squad is to play a particular 11 which is best suited to win a match and succeed... if we can win matches by playing josh against sucky opponents, i would take that rather than see his talent being wasted in the championship.

That's my point though, I don't think we need to give him the job of breaking down stubborn defenses because I think with his talent he can already do that. Yeah sure he can still improve here but even if he doesn't he still good enough offensively. It's the other half that he needs to work on, his technique, vision and passing is so good I'd argue that his training should be 100% strength and defense training.

At this point in his development, I'd rather see him misplace 5 passes and miss two sitters if he gets 2 tackles, 2 interceptions and a block.

His offense - 7/10

His defense - 2/10

Total - 9/20

So even if he has an amazing offensive game, which he's def capable of, the max he gets is 12/20, whereas if he even improves his defense to a 5/10, he's putting in 12/20 performances on his off days.

I think Josh could learn from Wallace ...Younger and just arrived at the club but looks a ready made squad player. Josh still looks like a

The defensive thing about josh I remember when carlo said he wanted to put him in the mid as a dm type of player.

Now I see why he wanted to do that, as josh has the ability to become some type of pirlo/alonso type of player.

But he needs the right type of loan.

Hopefully the club and Mourinho can find something interesting for him.

So why are we keeping ramires then? For the defensive aspect of his game, just like MVG.

My point was more about why are we loaning Josh out. Yes he is better defensively than Josh, but Josh is a much better passer. They're not really that far apart in terms of ability and personally if I had to chose, I'd chose our academy product.

Neither of them is comparable to Ramires.
