Popular Post! Blue Colored Sky 1,807 Posted March 17, 2015 Popular Post! Share Posted March 17, 2015 Chalobah doesn't do enough defensively to warrant a deep midfield role imo. He's got good technical ability and decent size but workrate is lacking imo.If you aren't going to be a deep midfielder who can also break up attacks and defend, then you need to be a CM who can make forward runs and score and assist. He does neither at a high level imo. It's good to see him doing well at Reading but something is off about him. It's your opinion and I respect that but I don't agree.First of all, Chalobah is still the kind of player who needs a couple of straight games to be in his proper conditions. He can be pretty much dogshit when he plays in patches, especially after a long break. While he hit the ground running he's completely different player. I don't think that he lacks the ability of breaking attacks. After all he played the centre-back position for majority of the youth games. When I saw him at Watford he was very good all-around player. Also Zola, who worked with him closely for a season said that he thinks that his best position will be 6.I assume that when you've watched him, you probably saw the one who was low on confidence either in Burnley or Nottingham.Unfortunately, I don't have data to add and we should have his distance ground cover to say if he has good workrate. But I liked what I saw at Watford and at U19s & U21s for England.I think he has to start to have better environment around him to quicken his development. I truly believe, no, I'm 99% sure that he would be the one playing against Arsenal now and be praised for that if he had a chance in very good club early in his career like Kongdobia had in Sevilla. I don't see a much of a difference in potential between the two to be honest. zolayes, killer1257, Chelsea Legend 11 and 2 others
themightyblue 443
Watched both games, Chalobah was outstanding. So much class on the ball but got really stuck in. Looked better than Coquelin Stats and Blue Colored Sky
CurlyHairLikeLuiz 1,625
If we sell Moses to Stoke imo that'd be a good loan team for him next season. Then we'll see what his first team future looks like, pending Koke, RLC, Mikel, and Ramires' futures. Because this lad could easily replace both Ramires and Mikel. Leif 6,006
tbh i thought he was average as a school chicken pie while at Watford and i pretended otherwise because of blue tinted glasses. I wouldn't have done so had i knew the likes of Musonda, Boga, Loftus and co would all do what he did at youth level X10. as a person i'm sure he is very intelligent, but as a player, not so much. reminds me of Bramble which sounds harsh but whatever, opinions are opinions.*Actually maybe i didn't pretend. At the time, I was checking his highlights on MOTD and thinking "ok, he has something", but on reflection, i just don't think he did, and if he did, he's definitely not built on it. 'but he's young, give him time'i will

The Skipper 20,609
Still think the kid has a future here and just hasn't been given a fair chance at all. He can at least do a job as a squad player IMO. His physique has matured loads, filled himself really well, and his tactical acumen is improving. Wish Jose gave him a chance.

Wonder whether he was like that whole game? lucio

Bir_CFC 3,455
I thought he was pretty good. The rest of the midfield around him was utter shite though, like just unbelievably shite.

The rest of the midfield around him was utter shite though, like just unbelievably shite.I like Nate as a lad but he clearly is not Chelsea standard and needs to sort himself out a new club. He was comprehensively outplayed by Carvalho last night. Not in the sense that they went one on one but Carvalho looked a potential player who calmly gave structure to his side, Nate did not. It was a poor selection by Southgate and a decision which contributed directly to the fact that we lost.

ja1 1,166
It was one game. I don't get this short term attitude of football fans sometimes where one game can comprehensively show a player's quality and potential. Not even baring in mind that Portugal in general outplayed England, and looked tactically better managed. I've seen games where William Carvalho has done nothing, and Chalobah was probably the best player on the pitch when Reading played Arsenal in the FA Cup. They're both good talents. Chalobah with nearly 100 appearances first team (with a further 76 appearances for England at youth team level) for me makes so much sense to incorporate into the squad for next season.
