LDN Blue 7,903
Turned 29 this year.Ah I see. Well I still believe he's better off at Roma to be honest. That being said, I haven't seen much of him (except on Fifa) which might influence that comment He wants to finish his career at Roma, wants to be remembered by the fans like their current legend Totti...hence why he declined a transfer to Manchester City in the most recent transfer window. Ollie 4,400
He's a dirty cunt from that crop of a few years ago with Cassano, Mexes, Dacourt etc, horrible bunch of thugs. I wouldn't mind him here but he's not a likeable person. Could replace Essien. Suppose he's got 3 good years left but if he wants to stay with Roma for life, this thread is rather pointless. Superblue 6,372
I think he'd be great but I don't think Chelsea will go for it. Our policy of buying new players is generally good, but also a bit silly if it's a rule. Older players are invariably much cheaper to buy so the risk is much lower. The best transfer values are almost always players in their mid to late 20's. (Michu, Cazorla, Demba Ba, etc...) and these players still offer a number of good years. This is true in most circumstances but you will still get times when a player is very important to his club and as a result will still command a large transfer fee. I think this is one of those circumstances. Roma will not let him go for cheap and his wages will also be rather tasty I would expect. I do agree though that the club needs to ensure they have the right blend at the club. We cannot afford for all of our older players to move on in the next year or so and lose all of that experience without replacing it. It doesn't have to be players of 30 years or older as you said, there can be a lot of value buying players at the ages between 27-30 and we should not as a club ignore such opportunities if they arise. RamiCFC9 258
De Rossi is the epitome of class on and off the pitch, wouldn't mind him join us at all, but thats very, very unlikely to happen.
BlueLyon 9,359
He can play CB too right? He would also be perfect as DM, since he always tracks back and has great positioning and tackling. Even Luiz would go forward, we would still have this guy along another CB. De rossi and luiz could also rotate through the match between CB and DM. His passing is great, and what we realy need now is some more experience amongst these youngsters. Defences are always strong if defenders play together for longer time and are also older. De Rossi is very experienced, and wouldnt cost more than Hummels. Could give great balance between attack and defence, Im just worried where would Rambo, KDB,...then play...And I heard Rossi is/was in fight with his coach. Wouldnt mind if we try, however this is hard to happen.
BlueLyon 9,359
Long balls, ball control, movement, tackling, marking. He is arguably the best DM in the world right now.

mediator 2,026
Let's just imagine De Rossi + KDB in our double pivot... With Oscar as nb 10 just omg
OneMoSalah 8,887
Or De Rossi Mikel/De Rossi Ramires.... De Rossi could contribute as a more attacking player or Mikel/Ramires could. De Rossi is technically sound and is more than able to offer creativity.
BlueLyon 9,359
As much I like this guy, right now since Mikelis doing better and better, we dont realy need him. In Italy he plays along Pirlo and Marchisio and he is lone DM. We already have DM in Mikel and De Rossi is good at long passing, butnot that great in ball control. He is also not fast and since he would cost 40mio (and already 29), I would prefer Vidal for that price. He is great runner, energetic, never gives up. His contribution in attack and defence is great too. Nice upgrade over Rambo. And since Juve already has great replacement in Pogba, they might sell for 40mio (since they realy NEED money). But I wouldnt be against De Rossi. fantastic tackler and can play CB too. Great persona as well.Just maybe not needed realy.

De Rossi doesn't lack anything for a DM, hes good at reading the game, great tackler, great passer, strong, tactically sound and is also goal threat from set pieces. He would be the perfect player to play beside Mikel as he if also very good at picking out passes. Be it long or short ones. I would rather De Rossi over Vidal. BlueLyon 9,359
Well, I would be happy with anyone of the two, but two DMs in pivot pair are little to much for attackingly oriented team. Vidal offers something in attack too. However I just read that he lost his form due to over-playing. He is physicaly and mentaly exhausted. LDN Blue 7,903
You know usually I'd be dismissive of this idea but Henrique was right in the Real Concerns thread.. We lack an experienced player in the middle. I'm not saying that it wasn't right to lose the players we did but now we seem to be too young. De Rossi's been around forever, has a little temper but, he would be good experience to close out our narrow leads & keep our defence in check. He's also no nonesense so he won't let players try to bully Hazard, Oscar & Mata.
KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
De Rossi would be great. He would add some real character and backbone to the team. Wouldn't be astronomically expensive either.
Spike 12,049
I've always seen De Rossi as a man that loves AS Roma, his club but actually dislikes Roma, the city. A messy and very public divorce, falling out with staff, father in law murdered, and just lots of other drama.

I think all of their wife's have been mugged, well I certainly heard about Cavani's and Lavezzi's getting mugged. Apparently Hamsik's wife was held at gunpoint for her car too.. not exactly the same as De Rossi's case with his divorce, father in law being murdered etc but you know.
