The Skipper 20,609
We paid just under 50m for the pair of them...I know, obviously due to our "billionaire inflation tax" as I'd like to call it back then. They were expensive but weren't really thought of as world stars am I not right?

Blue Gino 377
Let's assume Arsenal finish outside the top four and Wenger leaves on a mutual decision with the board. Would it be crazy to imagine Roman contacting Wenger? Why would Arsene consider it? It's a team in transition moving towards younger players, a youth system stockpiling talent, an owner who craves attractive football, and with no new stadium on the horizon and FFP, transfer spending will have to be done a lot more wisely. After all If BENITEZ can be hired, after the sacking of a fan favorite, anything is possible.

Ollie 4,400
I'd like to see Roberto Martinez, especially with the Spanish contingent we have. His Wigan side do play some very nice football at times. Let's face it, Jose wont come back, it's just a dream. As much as i try and convince myself and you, i just for the life of me can't see it. I do like him as a manager, but to be honest his Wigan side just about avoid relegation each year, it'll be one hell of a risk on our part and to be honest we've took to many in the past couple of seasons. Funkyflashman 187
8 Years. To be fair, Arsenal are consistently losing their best players to other clubs, not a problem that Wenger would have at Chelsea. But then yeah http://www.sincearsenallastwonatrophy.co.uk/

Not sure about Martinez. Don't like 3-5-2 or 3-4-3...and moving from Wigan to Chelsea is a massive step up..The other problem would be: Time.If the likes of AvB and RDM can get sacked for a few poor performances...then there is every chance Martinez would get the boot after 2-3 months in charge.. Strike 7,492
There are two options for me: Mourinho, who most would welcome with open arms, or a riskier manager in Laudrup.Laudrup who was easily on of the best playmakers to ever grace the game clearly has the footballing brains to take up the mantle as a manager. Guardiola himself admitted he broke into tears when he left Barca crying he taught him everything he knows about the game. With the players we have and Laudrup at the helm you'd see a style which the players would enjoy and the big man Roman really wants. I really feel he could help take the likes of Oscar, Hazard, Mata etc to the next level. Who better then Laudrup to scrutinise your passing or nurture our players vision?Hiring a man who is so revered worldwide could certainly hold it's benefits, instead of hiring Mourinho who would certainly exacerbate the stigmatisation Chelsea already face. Equally the way Roman wields his axe could backfire if he ever felt the need to sack him. Either way if Mourinho doesn't become available or even if he does, I'd be more than happy if we built a legacy with Laurdrup. His contract ends next year so we wouldn't be breaking the bank like we did with AVB too.Michael Laudrup has barely any experience with a big club with good funds. i would like to see how he does in a club like Arsenal or Spurs for instance before judging him.he did well at Getafe. got them to the copa del rey final and the uefa cup quarters where they took Bayern to extra time(?) and now at Swansea, he has got Prem League experience and has shown that he will adjust his gameplan when needed(0-0 draw with Liverpool) but working here is much different to working at Swansea. the team is different, the transfer targets are different and there is enormous pressure to suceed here. i would wait on Laudrup. Blue Armour 4,448
And Laudrup has no real desire to coach a big club...Like he himself said, he's already lived the dream of working with big clubs as a player...he's in no urgency to do a repeat as a manger. CHOULO19 24,332
Atm, the most likely option looks like Pellegrini which seems to me a surprisingly reasonable decision by the club.
