Pizy 19,286 Posted yesterday at 11:23 Share Posted yesterday at 11:23 As I’ve said before, Cesc seems like a smart, levelheaded guy. I don’t think he’ll jump at the first offer from a huge club like ourselves yet.

Managers in conversation at Chelsea: ▪︎ Xavi Hernandez ▪︎ Xabi Alonso ▪︎ Francesco Farioli ▪︎ Cesc Fabregas (not expected to leave Como) Andoni Iraola is appreciated, but Chelsea will have to weigh up if they want to change approach. “The club have made significant progress in instilling a football identity that is visible in the academy, and that one of the values of Maresca was his teams typified this approach. Pizy 19,286
I remember being open to Xavi when his name was in the mix before we appointed Maresca. But he’s been out of work for what, 3 years now? He would be a massive risk at this time when we need someone as close to a sure thing as we can get. The new manager will be taking over a club in absolute crisis. Appointing someone like Xavi could be disastrous. Strike

I'm leaning towards Iraola because of league experience but Alonso and his coaching team seem level headed, smart too. They will both prioritize making the squad be better at pressing, running and after having watched a season where our team has been outrun every single game, it would be welcome. Will need a big turnover of the squad too as many mediocre players have just settled in and around the first team here.
