It's not even the injuries, it's the fact that there is no passion or instructions or anything from the sideline.

I don't doubt Potter's quality as a manager but this is looking like Moyes at United 2.0 (a decent manager who was well beyond his depth), wonder how many more gutless losses it will take before he's leading the sack race.

It's a known fact a manager jumping up and down on the touch lines does absolutely nothing, players and ex players have already said yeah we just ignore it, you telling me that some one on 100k+ a week needs the manager to jump around the touch line like a monkey on crack to be able to put a pass 10 yards?

You say that, look at all the *top* managers we have had over the years that got sacked because of players not trying.

You really think ancelotti and Conte got sacked because the players "stopped trying"? Sarris last game was the Europa League final , did they win that by "not trying"?

That could take years or decades. And you still need the right coach for the rebuild. Arteta for all his faults won the FA cup in his first season. That was a positive sign.

Yeah and thats the reason we need to start the rebuilding asap or started in the summer. Otherwise we will bring in a new manager who paint the pig for a year or so before he gets the sack aswell.

But which elite manager do you recon would come here and guide the club through a massive rebuild?

I want to keep GP but if this board does decide to sack him then honestly, we need to prize Luis Enrique away from Spain..

Enrique isn't even the Spain manager anymore, he was released after the World Cup.

But he's shite anyway.

The season was already over before it started anyway, so I don't see any logic to be sack Potter now  unless you don't believe that we will win the Champions League with Pochettino before to be sack  next December .

Potter's situation to me resembles that of Moyes after the Ferguson Era at United -  a team in transition, and every decision you make turns against you because your name is not Ferguson .

and to remind that we had 5 wins in his  first 6 games  at the club before the injury pandemic with two clear wins over AC Milan with this same Potter

we can judge Potter next season at the earliest after he cleared out those who don't want to be at Chelsea

Had we got relegated, I can totally see some people claiming we were destined for Championship even before TT sack, so Potter is fine. And then the same people will bash our players for lacking mentality 🤫

I don't think the hot chair was great concept, but GP is not the man to build upon. His appointment was a mistake from the very beginning that should be fixed ASAP.

People bash our squad, but if we lose two years and end up with 25 Brighton level players, empty pocket and blocked FFP and THEN start to think maybe we need a manager after all it's all cool?

60m for a knee jerk reaction no thank you, he was brought in to build from the ground up at least let him try before giving him 60m and waving him good bye.

The hope is that a situation like this wouldn't happen because of the footballing structure now being put into place. In some ways the appointment of Vivell is more important than Potter with regards to this rebuild as he will be tasked on joining the dots of each operation to ensure its well oiled.

When Pep decides he's had enough, I don't envisage City moving for the highest profile manager available, they'll move for the best fit which suits their squad and can continue their success under Pep. We have never done this, we've always gone for the best manager available in the past and it's left us with a number of players bought under a number of different managers with different ideas, philosophies and even formations. It has left an unbalanced squad put together with scattergun tactics. The hope moving forward is we're either buying younger players who have more propensity to be moulded into what you want them to be, or we're buying immediate first team ready additions who actually fit into the team.

Whether Potter remains in the long term or not, the hope will then be that if he is moved on at some stage, the next appointment will be made with consideration to the squad at the disposal and not just the biggest managerial name out there (e.g. buying a number of skilful, technical attacking players and then appointing Simeone to manage them).
