The Next Manager?

Recommended Posts

It's just hard to get excited about any potential manager these days.

Anyone getting bored of this merry go round? Same justifications, same visions, same expectations... Same vilifications, same impatience, same fickleness.

Meh, I don't care any more.

Hire Benitez, Allerdyce and Rogers. Same shit, different day.

So long as he's backed in the market and the club do everything they possibly can to convince Hazard of the project and make him want to stay then I'm 100% behind Conte. Assuming we keep hold of all of our key players (Hazard, Costa, Courtois, Willian) then we have one hell of a solid foundation for a new manager to spruce up with new signings and stamp his signature on.

Would still prefer Simeone, though. More of a sure thing.

I believe Hazard will leave this summer no matter what the club do.  As long as the money from his sale is ploughed into a top quality replacement or a rising star, I am fine with it.  On top of it, that quoted 130 million pound figure should not be made up partially by any Hazard sale.  Anything less than 3 top quality players bought in the summer will enrage me. If we end up as he biggest net spender in Europe this summer, that's even better since its high time we behaved like a big club with our investments.

I agree. This should be our highest spending summer ever in my opinion. It has to be if we want to ensure we get back in to the CL straight away. I also unfortunately think Hazard will be off. So long as we get someone like Reus who's nearly at Hazard's level or maybe try to get one of Real Madrid's players I think we'll be fine without him. We need someone who can put up similar numbers and maybe score more goals than Hazard has.

We sell Hazard and bring in someone not near his level and it'll be a long season. The huge money we'd get will mean nothing if it's flushed down the toilet on mediocrity.

Fuck Conte off and bring Koeman. The job he's done at Southampton speaks volumes about him as a coach, not only that but he isn't scared to introduce the young lads, which is what we all want right?

Fucking somebody off before he's even come here... We are not in a privileged situation to choose whoever we want. If we get Conte, then it means he is the best we can get simple as that. I personally don't mind any mentioned candidates bar Pellegrini, but I don't think he was ever a serious candidate over the others. Conte has a track record of rejuvenating struggling sides, I can bet it's one of his biggest selling points to the board. Once we are settled and not in a clusterfuck like now, then we can take risks with the likes of Koeman.

Yep. I just can't get invested in this managerial malarkey anymore. Rinse and repeat every 6 months. Ditto with the whole youth debate.

Jaded.

Are you basing this because we sack Mourinho?

Must I point to you that we didn't want to sack Mourinho. We had no choice but to let him go because of the position we was and he lost the dressing room.

As long as any new manager don't have a worse season then what Mourinho showed us this season then he will be good.

We will go the Wenger approach, as long as we finish top 4 we are good.

I agree with you for one season.

In the second season the team has to win something, otherwise the coach will be out of work, imo.

The problem is that the board doesn't want to spend much money anymore,

at least that's my impression.

Therefore i agree with Jose who said that it's nearly impossible to

maintain long-term success under those conditions.

But we'll see!

I basically agree with you and thats what scares me. It seems that over the past couple of transfer windows Romans given orders down to Emanalo and Grav to lock up the money. Theres no other reason why Mou wouldnt have been building up the team he obviously would have wanted to do. A question rises whether roman had told that to Mou before he signed his contract. BUT that situation is still the same so whoever takes over should by  rights not have any money to spend neither. So if this report of a £130 mill war chest is right then thats what pisses me off because IF Mou was given it we wouldnt be in the shite we are now!

i bet conte would spend the money better. why would you give that money to jose? he already stripped the team of talent and can't see beyond the season at hand. rather trust someone like conte, who has proven he can work on a small budget, and knows a particular market very well.

If you look at transfermarket you can see for the past few years we always spend good:

words about Conte from different players http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3463554/Andrea-Pirlo-Paul-Pogba-Carlos-Tevez-opinions-Antonio-Conte-Marco-Verratti-says-Chelsea-contender-best-boss-had.html

Spoiler

Paris Saint-Germain and Italy midfielder Marco Verratti

'I've learnt a lot by spending time with him and from a tactical point of view he's the best manager I've ever had. I don't feel any pressure. I like pressure. When you're with the national team every match is an exam. I know what the boss wants from me.'

Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba

'He told me [before leaving Manchester United for Juventus]: "With me, there's no youth, it's the best who plays. If you think you can establish yourself here, come, and we'll see if you're able to do it, show us what you can do." He pushed me, he struck where it was needed to convince me. I like being given challenges like that. I like indirect provocation. That's my goal: to be the best in my position, then the best in Europe and then the world.'

So, Verratti thinks he's the manager ever and Pogba says that anyone with the ability can make it under Conte. Maybe one day Conte could persuade Verratti to join us? That would literally be the best thing that could happen in terms of transfers.

I remember him wanting Piazon as well back then.

I wonder how he would have turned out if he had gone there.

Has to win something, like an FA Cup or Captial One Cup?

Do you seriously need a lot of money to win that?

Have Leicester spend big? Tottenham spend big? And they are not gunning for an FA cup mind you.

Sorry my friend the problem is you have a manager that if we don't spend he falls apart.

We need to have a balance my friend. We can't be spending big every season. You also have to learn how to implement youth.

A manager should have done better than what's happened under Jose's watch so far, alright mate, i'll give you that.

Furthermore he should haved played the youth and put Hazard, Fabregas, Matic, ivanovic and Costa on the bench.

Hindsight is nice, but your point is totally clear!

In my view it's not so easy to win the Curling -or FA Cup these days.

Currently we're having so much quality in the league, there are a lot of teams who are very difficult to beat and every manager has pressure to bring a trophy home, therefore most of them field the stars.

Everyone's talking about Leicester because what they have been doing isn't normal. The top teams screwed up big time, but with enough money you'll get back right to the very top.

Take a closer look at United, players like Carrick disagree with their manager publicly, difficult to get the job done under those cirumstances.

Reminds me a bit of Chelsea!

Next season, under a new coach and after big spending, they will be on another level, same as the Citizens.

With money you acquire the top players and long-term its going to work out.

A few years back Real had the likes of Van der Vaart and Huntelaar, no disrespect but after they went Galactico, they are much more competitive.

But maybe i'm plain wrong, hope so!

What about the Yids?

So far they are nothing but a one season wonder, imo.

How are they playing in Europe so far, can they cope with the stress?

What about next season?

I'm not afraid of them long-term, can't see how they will challenge for a title in the future.

Teams like United will come for Kane and others, but more importantly they're already coming for their scouts, Wenger convinced a guy from Leicester's team to switch sides.

Going to the top and winning a trophy is a big achievement, but can you hold on to it?

That's the most difficult thing to do, imo.

Most teams can't do it, especially in the Premier-League.

Now we're talking about Chelsea!

Ancelotti did the double, played exceptional footie, but in his second season he came second, not good enough for the legend and Abramovich.

Jose Mourinho were allowed a season without a trophy because of his history.

Do you think the legend and Roman would allow that to a 'nobody', a guy who has to build his reputation at Chelsea?

It's up for debate, imo.

During our last seasons, so it's more then one, our net spend is below the newly promoted teams, for example the likes of Watford or Bournemouth.

The first rule in a successful business is to invest money.

Fine, Chelsea think they can beat the odds, but then they have to go with the youth, but not happening, only thing that's happening is mediocrity.

Is the next manager really in the mood to stick his neck out for trusting the Youth?

He wants to win trophies immediately,

so i see the circle hire and fire continue.

But fair play to you friend if you think the ship is sailing into a nice, comfy weather.

I can't see it, but of course i'm staying put. [emoji4]

I think there could be a reason, maybe Roman and his crew lost faith in Mourinho's ability to spot fitting players.

Yes, i think Mourinho was behind the purchases of Fabregas, Costa and Willian. All three of them turned out to be a success story, only talking until the 2015/2016 season.

But what about the likes of Luis, Salah and more importantly Cuadrado?

Especially Cuadrado was a huge flop, maybe the worst player i've seen at Chelsea in the last 10 years, taking the money also into consideration.

I don't like it but if that's the reason for not buying, parting ways would have been the better solution.

Anyway, we could speculate the whole day.

Yes, Jose with that kind of money seems quite scary, he would have severly strengthend the squad, quite sad that the fairytale ended some time ago.

It seems that the board doesn't have any idea what to do now.

Very unprofessionell when you look how Bayern are doing it.
