Colwill said something similar about Mudryk. They obviously see something in training which he has just not been able to execute on the actual pitch.

Colwill might just be taking piss as well or just trying to support the teammate. What they see in training may be a fact he is athwart the pitch against the plastic cones. Don't think the presence of basic footballing IQ and vision or lack of thereof is something dependent on whether your tummy hurts because you are stressed to play in front of fans.

In eastern leagues running fast will do just fine, in seriously pro football, not so much.

I never saw him as a player that could "run the show".   At best, he was a system player at his previous club and the coach knew how to get him motivated and do the basic things well.

I think the other issue with Mudryk (which he spoke about during his time with the national team) is that he was hoping to move to a club with his international team-mates to help him settle down and adapt to the league.  That's the reason why the links to Arsenal were so strong and Zinchenko was one of his close friends and then the Chelsea transfer happened and he doesn't have that friendship here.

Ideally, he needs a loan to a different league, fresh start, play without the pressure, have fun again and then come back.

With the likes of Madueke, Neto, Felix, Sancho, Christopher Nkunku, and Cole Palmer as competition, Maresca has plenty of options to replace an out-of-form player in upcoming fixtures.

The recent £54m purchase of Neto serves as a stark challenge for Mudryk. Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley issued a stark warning to Mudryk, telling ESPN: "Mykhaylo Mudryk is just going to be a waste of time, as a starter. Pedro Neto will play there. He came on there, but he will play. Mudryk is just not consistent enough."

That only suggests where his main deficiencies are, and it actually makes his case worse in my book.

He clearly lacks the temperament for competitive football, which isn't something that can be developed.

Considering the above, he'd have to compensate that with unbelievable skill and I happen to think his technique is overrated; he just shows too much of the football at times.

I suspect Italy might be a good place for him due to the slower pace of the game there--similar to Cuadrado.

Exactly the same things have been said about Solanke when he was at Chelsea and Liverpool. He ultimately exploded last season, Spurs have now taken the risk, but it's still unsure wheter he can maintain that level or back to mediocrity.

Difference between top players and Championship-level players is very small actually. There are hundreds or greatly talented players with insane potential around, but ability of making quick and good decisions and putting up with stress at the highest level makes the difference, as well as showing flexibility and responding positively to change(new coach, new system etc.)

Mudryk clearly is talented and quick AF but it is also clear he is lacking confidence very much and seems unable to adapt, evolve. Just look at Madueke, they arrived at the same time, he hardly got any chances at the beginning, but one can see he believes in himself and always trying to impress, even it means he seems selfish and wasteful at times. He improved a lot and he definetly improved his position in the squad in the last 18 months, while Mudry going deeper and deeper. Noni always asking for the ball and looking to score goals, Mudryk is hiding behind defenders not to receive the ball and making safe passes not to embarrass himself. This behaviour on the pitch is not taking him anywhere.

Imo, Mudryk definetly needs a loan to a team where he can be the star player, run the show and enjoy himself, things which he clearly doesn't at Chelsea. I have doubts wheter he is capable to turn things around at this point. I want to say I am cheering for him, but for me he is not a likeable charachter at all.

To be honest, Madueke's transfer back to England benefits him a lot more than Mudryk. We don't know if Mudryk has acclimated to life in the UK despite being here for quite some time, and there aren't many Ukrainians plying there trade over here.

Some players can deal with the difficulties surrounding them or pressure, while others just can't hack it. This season is obviously make or break for him.

Keep seeing things about how players & coaches see quality or ability from him in training…

If competitive football matches were decided in training, ok fair, but they aren’t and we hear it far too often. Yet see nothing on the pitch from him to back up these claims.

Must go. No loan. Sell at a loss. Wasn’t at the level required when we signed him but also didn’t have a lot of experience in men’s football. Technically he is awful too, like really. Decision making also incredibly poor, wrong decision 3/4’s of time but if he had played another 100 games maybe be better - but again big maybe.

I remember when similar things were being said about Loftus-Cheek, shame about his back injuries as he had all the tools to be that x-factor in our midfield.

Was the dame nonsense about Torres too. He looks good/sharp in training….

Those at Chelsea have already accepted that ‘frustrating’ player is a failed signing

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/news/those-at-Chelsea-have-already-accepted-that-frustrating-player-is-a-failed-signing/

There is a feeling inside Chelsea that one of their signings has been a huge failure, so much so that they may be prepared to sell the player in the New Year.

When you look at the current Chelsea squad, there’s a real mix of successes and failures in the dressing room.

If you’re searching for positives, someone like Cole Palmer has been a shining light since his arrival in 2023. Blues supporters will be glad to hear that Palmer is training ahead of the Bournemouth fixture on Saturday, as confirmed by the club’s official website.

Unfortunately, many of his teammates have struggled to make a significant impact at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea accept Mykhailo Mudryk signing is a failure

According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea are not happy with the way that Mykhailo Mudryk has performed since he arrived at the club back in the January window of 2023. It’s understandable because the Ukraine attacker has only scored seven goals and made five assists in 62 appearances.

It is explained that there’s an acceptance at Chelsea that the signing of the 23-year-old winger has been a failure so far.

Apparently, if Mudryk’s form doesn’t improve from now until January, they may be open to selling him.

It cost the Blues a gigantic £89m deal (BBC) to sign the rapid forward from Shakhtar Donetsk, which is looking like a poor bit of business right now.

Mykhailo Mudryk will slip down pecking order

It does feel like Mudryk needs a miracle to save his Chelsea career because nothing is working out for him in west London. It’s even more frustrating when you see the left-winger perform during international breaks in Ukraine colours.

Speaking via talkSPORT last season, Carlton Cole described Chelsea’s Mudryk as a “frustrating” player. That is the perfect summary of his time in English football so far.

We think he could really struggle for minutes moving forward because of the increased competition in wide areas from teammates such as Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto.

I think a loan to Italy might do him good.

A loan of any sort should have been agreed once the club had intentions of signing Sancho.

I can't see him playing more than a handful of games until Jan. He's right at the bottom of the pecking order having failing to impress when given chances in the opening games.

Never mind a loan… sell. If he is as desperate to leave as being reported also - makes more sense. Although the sort of clubs who would want him will not pay £40-50m for him.

With his long-ass contract, no European club will buy him out for sure.. He either delivers on loan first to raise interests or agrees to agrees to the Saudis.

(not sure Saudis can accept his “only Jesus” necktattoo though.. he might have to add “Navas” or change it to “Only Mohamed”)
