One of the worst moves this club has made in the past 25 years. Villas boas made sense although sacking ancelotti did not, just didn't work out. His Porto team was epic and won it all. Potter came 16th 15th and 9th with Brighton. Reddish-Blue, Vegetable, Johnnyeye and 1 other 3

Getting rid of ancelotti might not have been the right call but Villas-Boas was the next up and coming manager, his Porto side were fun to watch, they were winning for fun, went undefeated in their league (IIRC Falcao & Hulk were on fire) and he had connections with Chelsea as he was part of Mourinho's coaching staff. It's a shame that we didn't get Falcao + Moutinho at that point in time, could of been like Mourinho getting Carvalho and Ferreira back in the day. Compare that to Potter and it's laughable at the lack of quality. No wonder why we're so far off the pace in the league, we have a manager who is no different to Moyes at United version 2.0. Jayteezy 18
I think we need to give him more time. Although we are not looking great, we’re going through a transition and have definitely made progress since we got the January transfers in. Our squad before was severely lacking plus the injuries to so many key players didn’t help. Our defence is looking solid so that should give him a platform to build on. We’ve pretty much replaced our attack with exciting young players who need time to gel with each other. My only concern with him is that he doesn’t exude the personality of an elite manager but I guess time will tell. Vesper

Maybe he just saw him doing well at Brighton and didn't consider they were where they should be? It's odd and hasn't paid off so woops! The thing about Brighton is that we are sort of aware now that it was fantastic recruitment that was the secret of their success - they genuinely found a lot of gems, and had players in the form of their careers like Cucu - but it is obvious that this is not down to Potter as he has not been able to get Cucu to play well even once. Potter was very lucky to be given a chance at a club that should be pushing for a Champions League place every season. The way he's heading, looks like he'll be told to go as the results have been shockingly bad. Johnnyeye and Vegetable
Mhsc 1,098
The problem with firing him is who the hell will the owners replace him with? They obviously have a model they're applying here for appointments, and the Potter decision was probably actually thought through quite a lot based on data and his personality. Maybe this mindless drone strategy is intentional and if we ever cut him the next person will be someone just as uninspiring? It certainly feels like they want a 'yes' man and Potter is probably that. Would the top, elite managers be that? No, definitely not. Vegetable 830
Fuck me, Brightion "football machine" and being 16 and 9 is now a SUCCESS by Chelsea's fans standards, what happened here lately is beyond me 😂 And anyone raising the "he needs time" argument in FREAKING FEBRUARY must be genuinely taking a piss now. He had plenty and way more then anyone could beg for in his position. This is world's top football league, if you are given a month, it is turbo luxury. Unless, of course, you don't belong to the top, so there is that… Reddish-Blue, Johnnyeye and Atomiswave 1

Which is nice. However we are definitely not where anyone expected us. A lot of people predicted us to finish 5th/6th even before this appointment...and proving them all wrong with 9/10th.... Stupid sacking..Stupid appointment....its lovely he is throwing money at the club but this is the issue atm Johnnyeye
manpe 10,861
Need to get rid ASAP before he can do any more damage. Can't believe he was appointed in the first place, I was screaming NOT to do it, but once it was done I feared the worst. Chelsea is an unrelenting beast that has broken big personality monsters like Mourinho, Conte, Tuchel with no remorse. Difference being they managed to bring success to the club before being broken, that's what elite winners do... Potter never showed this type of personality to succeed at Chelsea, he's too soft, too timid. Many of the new signings probably had no idea who Potter was before his surprise move to Chelsea, so unless he's bringing the results (which he's not), he's not gonna get any respect from them and it's gonna get worse with every bad result. In addition to being a good coach and tactician, you also need to command respect and a bit of fear from the players. We need to appoint someone who can do that, trophyless mid-table managers are not the answer. Boehly and co fucked us real hard last summer, I hope they learn from it. Vegetable 830
Nathan Jones: Southampton sack manager after just three months in charge So apparently there is no time limit club has to hold on to underperfoming manager before sacking him, as the "had you ever seen pl club sacking manager twice in one season?" was posted here a few times. If coach raise voice on a player (never happens) it would be a big thing. I watch NBA regularly and it's different thing there in terms of behaviour of coaches. Boehly is heavily involved there with Dodgers and Lakers and is probably trying to impose same thing here culture wise. Potter is fitting perfectly in this for them. milka 3,393
I don't like the Chelsea coach sitting like a schoolgirl and agreeing with everything. Hashishi 148
Todd shat the bed sticking him with us. The problem is I'm afraid Potter will slightly achieve better every season from a data stand point as he did in Brighton I.e. 16th, 15th, 9th replicates as avoiding relegation this year, competing for Europa spots the year after and UCL spots the year after. I don't think he gets that far. I think as soon as there is an obvious world class manager (like guardiola) he will snap him up like enzo.
