I could absolutely see us panic buying Danny Ings on deadline day after fucking about and failing everywhere else.

Actually wouldn’t be a bad buy, tbh. He’s the sort of striker who wouldn’t stand in our way of pursuing Haaland or someone else next summer and would remain a great squad option for several years.

Could see Ings bagging 15 PL goals in our team for sure.

I cannot see us making a move for Ings, who is 29yo in 2 weeks and has a shit injury history, BUT his refusal to renew will likely fuck us to a point in unloading Tammy for a decent price, as the same clubs who want Tammy also will now go for Ings (West Ham, Villa, etc)

In all honesty I don't know if that will be viewed as a big enough step up for Ings.

He was at Liverpool and that spell was just completely wrecked by injury. I think he'll look to back himself for a move to a big 6 team and try to write those wrongs.

Depends on Southampton's stance with a move this summer but even next summer just hitting 30, I think on a free he would be pretty desirable across the Prem, even for the top clubs because he'd be a more than decent rotational option.

If really Tuchel want Rice and an offer is being prepared for it who will be sold ?

Kovacic ?

Why would we sell someone, we need minimum 4 midfielders in the squad and Gilmour has already left on loan.

In the recent years i can only think about Luiz, Kepa, and Ziyech. The rest including Werner, Pulisic, Kovacic are hardly discreet.

Well it depends how you look at things. The transfers such as Werner and Pulisic were linked but it looked like they were going elsewhere. Hence, a load of posts about the board not knowing what they were doing, then boom, done deal.

So, I think this is a slight semantics issue, no the club aren't so discreet that absolutely nothing gets reported (although they have done on occasion) but they work in a way were it seems like we're behind others and/or not doing much.

My issue with posts here is that there are some people losing their sh*t over not having a signing yet. However, for all we know they could be working hard on Håland.

Thus, if Håland was announced in four weeks time, people wouldn't class it as discreet as it was reported, however to do a deal like that would mean constant negotiations for months. So, if we do, then we have been discreet currently as there aren't constant updates (like Werner for instance were most of the noise was to the Dippers.)

Aye it doesn’t look great for Tammy but at the same time, will we get the apparent 35/40m price we want for him? Who’s going to replace him if we aren’t able to get deals for Haaland or Lukaku?

Theres no other real links to CFs which is a huge concern and we hopefully won’t just buy an average player for the sake of it.

It would probably be stupid to sell either of Tammy or Giroud without making a purchase first in that area. Giroud is the only one with any sort of concretely links away as well. Tuchel might have to give him another chance though if we don’t get anyone in.

Watkins raised £35m last season with zero PL experience. Tammy, despite his flaws, is a proven regular scorer in England, is young and has the English tax factor. £35m+ is quite achievable imo as there are plenty of middle PL clubs that need a goal scorer (Brighton, Palace, Newcastle, West Ham etc.)

Kovacic ?

Does TT really want Rice? The guy isn't very good at breaking the lines with either his passing or running. Imo, if he does come it won't be long before he is converted to a CB role; especially in a 3.

I doubt we'd be considering letting Giroud go if we didn't have a striker lined up, or be confident of securing one.

You all know what I'm thinking, and you're right, it won't be Haaland.
