The price was set for Maignan, we just didn't want to meet it, that's not Milan's fault.

I said the other day we cannot be blind sided to think Sanchez after his PSG performance is the next coming of Gordon Banks, we must go out and get a top class keeper.

But I don't think we will

Just 7% of Chelsea fans would NOT sell Nicolas Jackson this summer

It's quite clear here

https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/just-7-of-Chelsea-fans-would-not

The big debate of this week has been whether Chelsea should sell Nicolas Jackson or not.

So, what do we do when there are big debates going on? We ask the incredible community on here to give their opinions via a poll.

On this poll, I wish I added another option to say that you’d sell Jackson if a replacement comes in regardless of whether he goes to a Premier League rival or not, but never mind. Either way, I think we got the feel of the fan base in this community via these results.

I asked, are you selling Nicolas Jackson this summer if it's a good fee?

  • 39% said yes, regardless of anything else

  • 35% said yes, but not to a Premier League rival and only if he’s replaced

  • 20% said yes, but not to a Premier League rival

  • 7% said no, regardless of anything else

Incredible results really that are very clear, most of us would sell Jackson this summer.

My view?

I’d sell Jackson and I’d not worry about where he goes. I’ve never understood the Premier League rival thing for players like this. If said player wants to go to a rival, then that’s his mindset clear to me, and let them go. We only need to be worrying about ourselves and not our rivals. If we are prepared to sell said player, are we really strengthening an opponent? Is Noni Madueke and Kepa Arrizabalaga really anything to be majorly concerned about at Arsenal? Maybe it makes them better in a deeper squad sense, but does it improve them? I would sell Jackson to whoever pays the fee for him; it’s about getting the most money for him in my view.

I don’t dislike Jackson as a player, far from it - I can appreciate what he offers and what he brings, but it’s just not enough and I just don’t see him as a Chelsea player for the future so if any offer comes in, why not sell now?

I’d probably like to see a striker come in and replace him but again, I’d not see that as the be all and end all. We could easily keep Marc Guiu as the third choice centre forward if that is what we want - he looks like the real deal and it would be good for him to get some domestic cup games. My gut does say that we would need another new striker though but it’s not essential. I might be in the minority thinking that Joao Pedro is a very good 9, and you all know I rate Liam Delap.

But once again, I agree with the mass majority in this poll.

I thought it would be 2% and that was his family.  He is just rubbish!

🔵News from Matt Law -

- Maresca’s expectation at the start of the season internally  is to finish T4 and improve.

- Colwill, Palmer, James and Caicedo considered the untouchables.

- Chelsea aren’t forcing a Gk incoming, the fact they had a go at Maignan makes Matt think they’ll still look at opportunities.

- Massive Fear amongst clubs about committing to Rodrygo. It could end up like Sterling at Chelsea if it goes wrong.

- If Chelsea sign a winger, It will likely be Fofana or Garnacho as they were placed on a 3 man winger list with Gittens.

- if Jackson goes Villa, keep an eye on Rogers.

- Nkunku for Garnacho deal possible.

Rodrygo release clause

Arsenal have reportedly hit a snag on their interest in Real Madrid star Rodrygo.

According to Cadena, Real's £78million (€90m) asking price for the versatile forward is "too high" for the Gunners.

The potential signings of Chelsea's Noni Madueke and Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres are also said to have "complicated things considerably".

The same source claims the Brazil international and Los Blancos are "at a standstill".

Ethan Nwaneri has reached an agreement with Arsenal for a new long-term contract, amid interest from Chelsea.

It was obvious Ethan wasn't going to leave Arsenal, as his best mate just signed a new deal as well (MLS).

There were posters on here who actually thought he'd walk 😆

how are they going to be able to spend like £400m in a single window?

I'd be surprised if a few more players aren't sold at Liverpool, considering they are all in on Isak and that young french striker at Frankfurt.

Elliott, possibly Diaz (if fee is high enough).

Liverpool want to sign Rodrygo, reports @ESPNBrasil

I guess this could be a sign that Diaz is off to Barca or Bayern.

I know they didn’t spend anything really last summer but seriously, how are they going to be able to spend like £400m in a single window?

Selling Diaz and Nunez would help quite a bit.

The links with us were silly as he’d have just as hard of a time getting any minutes here. But it feels like he should be praying that Arse don’t sign Eze. Their supporters were already getting annoyed at Arteta not playing him enough last season. How is he going to get minutes if they have Odegaard and Eze at #10 and Saka + Madueke on the right?

So excluding young players - loans or sales, we have to get rid of:
- Disasi, Veiga, Chilwell, Sterling, Felix, Broja, Chukwuemeka(probably count as a young loan).

Possible/optional departures:

- Chalobah(Hope not), KDH, Nkunku, Jackson

We must buy:

- Cucu cover and another left sided attacker if George doesn't stay to cover LW.

The squad doesn't look too bad. With Pedro and Delap I am ok with keeping eighter of Jackson or Guiu. With 8 games in the CL there will be plenty of opportunity for everyone who deserves it. We don't need luxury players a.k.a. Felix. If we can get Hato and one of Rogers/Fofana/Garnacho we will be ready to go. I know Garnacho gets a lot of hate, but depending on the transfer fee and wages he could be a smart signing. Don't forget he will have Enzo as his Argentinian big bro in London.  Champion of the World!! GET IN!!!

Assuming this is true then it means more than it used to a few years ago.  These days it seems that buying clubs only contact the selling Club if they already have an agreement with the player. Could be therefore that this is happening.

Makes their Madueke signing all the more confusing. Phase 7 Arteta is going to be watching Madueke on the left wing

I have a feeling we might sign Mads Hermansen who is for sale at Leicester.

There are still 45 days or so but this sounds like the plan.

I am a touch worried about our ability to breakdown defenses. Beating PSG is doable but finding a way past a parked Sunderland/West Ham/Wolves bus is what we will be up against every other week. We could really use Rogers or a creative player for those games.

Also, would prefer signing a GK - at least a solid cover for Sanchez.
