Is it possible that Arse agreed to overpay a bit because they could take the FFP hit and they figured it would fuck a lot of other EPL teams up by jacking up EPL to EPL transfer prices?

So far there hasn't really been any jacking up of transfer fees between PL clubs.   Even Spurs got their attacking mid from Leicester for a reasonable fee. 

Looks like we might be the ones suffering for not putting in a Caicedo bid earlier.   Brighton know full well that we are desperate and they're going to ask for 90+ million for Caicedo.   

If we are serious about this transfer window, we should just put in a final bid for Caicedo in the 80 million range and if Brighton reject it, we move on.
