Fofana I’m extremely skeptical can be sold because who knows what his health status is. Then I’d buy Branthwaite to be Colwill’s long term CB partner. Levi + Branthwaite as the primary PL starters, Trev and Tosin as rotation and starters in smaller comps, and then Fofana as depth on the rare occasions he’s fit. Btw, what the hell happened to Anselmino? There was a bunch of hype about him when we bought him and he indeed does look super talented. He arrived here in January to acclimate to the country and train with the first team and I haven’t seen or heard about him since. Nobody has even mentioned the idea of him playing for us next season. How good is Branthwaite? When I last saw him he was diving in a bit which tells me his reading of the game isn't the best. My thing with CB's is that they should be on their feet 98% of the time. The ones that have to dive in are the ones that have been caught out.

I'd want a better partner for Colwill if that's going to be our long term CB partnership. Branthwaite is good on his day but nothing special, even United laughed off Everton's attempts of trying to sell him for around 75 million last summer. Talent wise Fofana is well ahead of Branthwaite, just a shame that he is made of glass. Stats

Reason I suggested him is because he perfectly aligns with what our decision makers and talent identifiers love these days. Really young, on low wages so he can be handed a 9 year contract on reasonable wages, lots of potential resale value. I think he can go on to become a top CB and there’s a reason top clubs are interested. I’d have him before bringing in Guehi.

That is only had an xG of 22.5 as a CF for the team that finished third in Germany or that he underperformed it by 7.55. 13 hours ago, Thor said: I’ve never liked xG as a stat for forwards. Most of the best strikers thrive off of chances - and the more you can make or be in position for, the better. Just for comparisons, Hugo's teammate who went to City in January (Marmoush) had an xG of about 8.8 and ended up scoring 13 non-penalty goals. The last thing we need is two project strikers up front battling each other for first team minutes in Hugo & Nico. If we're really going down the young striker route, then get Delap, at least he's had a season to settle into PL football and managed to get to 10 non penalty goals in a pretty average Ipswich side. Can understand choosing a more established striker (and perhaps more pure CF) like Oshimen over Ekitike. But not sure about Delap. Other than him being a nuisance to defenders and being decent with the ball on his feet., I am not sure about him thriving against the defensive lines our team goes up against. Sure, there's the same concern with Ekitke too, but not sure if Delap is the answer there.
Blue Armour 4,482
Getting a reliable forward is such a pain for the club in the past few years. Still remember when Morata came in and all the hype around him. He had a great start too. Scoring with left foot, right foot, and headers, and a hat trick. Then it all went to pot because of his attitude. Same with Lukaku. In the past 2 decades, we have had only 2 reliable strikers, Drogba & Costa. And a few semi-reliable ones, Eto'o, Anelka, Giroud, Ba and Kalou. King Kante 1,643
Just realised Sane is out of contract. That would be a no brainer for me. Provides experience, still a good player. Deal could be structured as a signing on fee with wages lowered accordingly to keep him in line with the rest of the squad.

Blue Armour 4,482
Whichever forward we finally choose to go with, let's get the deal done asap. Let them come in and get acquainted with the club, and hit pre-season running, and hope they dont get an Nkunku style injury right at the start. Much better than waiting till the end of the transfer window and causing confusion for the squad and the manager.
Pizy 18,996
If Ekitike is the guy then Maresca really was foreshadowing when he said he wanted 2 Nico Jackson’s in terms of style. Someone who is a link up striker and not just a poacher or target man. I just don’t think he’s the right guy personally. 🤷♂️

Strike 7,540
22 hours ago, Vesper said: Sources: More on new goalkeeper plans Blues consider options https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/sources-more-on-new-goalkeeper-plans Chelsea are looking increasingly likely to now look to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer window with the arrival of Champions League football incoming. It is dependent on suitors coming in for current stoppers Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, and Djordje Petrovic. But SPTC sources, as we have been reporting here for months anyway, are insistent that new stoppers are being looked at and are likely to be targeted as part of the big summer window plans. It’s something that we foresee happening in the second transfer window rather than the first. The club have wanted to keep a lid on new goalkeeper plans for obvious reasons, but as we have maintained here, Chelsea have always been looking at new stoppers. The main name we keep hearing is Mike Maignan. We believe that feelers have been put out on this and Chelsea are appealed by the cut-price deal they should be able to get him for. Watch this space for sure… But there are other names of course and we have reported some here even over the weekend. The other two stoppers mentioned by my top source just yesterday is Lucas Chevalier of Lille, and Joan Garcia of Espanyol. But Maignan would be the absolute priority if they feel they can get him. We’ve heard that the current keepers will play at the Club World Cup, and Mike Penders has already confirmed that he is going to be going there. So as I say, I expect this to be something that happens in the second transfer window this summer, and expect Penders to go out on loan. But the likelihood of Chelsea signing a new keeper is increasing the more info that is coming in from sources. I would love Maignan (unless form has tailed off last year), Chevalier or Garcia. Get any and sell Sanchez Kepa and Jorgensen

We have waited few summers now to address the striker position and I'll just take whatever quality we can sign this year.
