If we have a Rogers on one wing and Cole on the other - or just goal scorers around the "striker" then we can get away with the Jackson/Delap type - ala Liverpool with Firmino.

Saying that though - I think Delap on a better team becomes a decent goal scorer. From watching him he has nice technique with his striking and isn't afraid to crack it.

Not having that at all.

Firmino’s role was probably extremely underrated in terms of importance to that team. Similarly to Benzema’s role at Madrid with Ronaldo and Bale.

He wasn’t just making up the numbers or a average player doing a job, he was a pretty good player and essential to that frontline working as it did under Klopp.

Jackson doesn’t have the braincells or quality to do anything remotely close to that here. He is more like Darwin Nunez than Firmino 🤣

Delap also don’t see it, he is a more classic style CF I feel. Not sure if he will make that step up purely because his game is nowhere near as rounded. How do you think he’s gonna fare against teams that sit in with 10 men behind the ball? At Ipswich they play a lot more direct and on the transition more. His game is nowhere near that rounded or technical enough to play here.

Everyone is about to fight over Joan García

https://scoutedftbl.com/everyone-is-about-to-fight-over-joan-garcia/

scouted-shortlist-joan-garcia-report.png

Get used to reading, hearing and seeing much more of Joan García. The 24-year-old will be one of the hottest properties in the upcoming transfer window.

Why? Because he’s really good, basically. Like, obviously really good. He’s the first goalkeeper to get Shortlisted, and he was the first goalkeeper to make it onto the SCOUTED Database. We don’t usually venture into goalkeepers, so that says something.

The first thing he did when I watched him for the first time last week was stab a first-time, 50-yard pass square onto the chest of his centre-forward while backpedalling. As first impressions go, that was a brilliant one, and everything he did after that only enhanced that impression.

The way I gauge goalkeepers is by how simple they make things look. Alisson is a prime example: his simple catch is another ‘keepers camera save. In that regard, García is similar to Alisson. He made the difficult things look easy - coming to claim high balls into the box was a doddle, super clean footwork was the order of the day, there were a couple of full-stretch saves that looked effortless, and his distribution was pretty easy.

García has been billed as the Next Big Thing™ in the goalkeeping world and it’s easy to see why. The €25 million release clause in his Espanyol contract represents tremendous value. Clubs shouldn’t miss out on a rare opportunity.

What do you guys think about Mbeumo from Brentford? Had an amazing season and is always an absolute pain in the ass for the big teams, oursleves included.

Top player. Does not get credit he deserves. Constant menace. Has played every game for Brentford this season. He looks a lot older (prob because he is bald) but he is only 25 so has years ahead still. I have a hunch he will end up at Newcastle. They will spend and as good as Murphy has been this season, Mbuemo takes them to another level. I can't see us being in for him.

Him & Wissa would both add something to our squad if either were to be signed. We have a CL place secure, so this window will probably be the most telling as to what the owners actually want from their "investment". Settle or kick on from this (hopefully our first piece of silverware on Wednesday) by adding quality that improves our starting XI right now.

Yeah, I like the look of him. Not saying I’d have him as our main forward signing but I wouldn’t be upset if we got him as an option in addition to an Osimhen/Gyokeres.

Sell Jackson and get 2 strikers.

Selling Jackson isn't a good idea. Sure get another CF to start ahead of him but selling him for £30-£45m at this point is a massive risk. For me, his flaws aren't completely insurmountable -  although I don't think he will ever be clinical - which means he could easily go somewhere and get 20+ goal season. If he does that he becomes £60-£90m (depending on how good the season is.)

Jackson isn't really a problem, the problem is having him come in very raw and making him CF1.
