Regardless, neither are the type the club should be going after. So we should be thankful that their clubs are pricing them out of us getting them. Last thing we need is yet another super raw striker player on huge wages that comes in, doesn’t look close to ready, and then we struggle for years to move them on.

I actually think Duran is a stud and quite polished - Samu I would steer clear of.

On the other hand Duran looks like a bit of a headcase with the way he is treating Villa and the West Ham situation. Pretty sure he is as good as gone to them anyway.

Duran was 3rd Colombian striker on Copa. That's all you need to know.

Wouldn't read much into that. Many international managers often go for experience over youth. Portugal had Antonia Silva as 3rd/4th choice CB behind 41 year old Pepe. Maguire if fit would have started ahead of Guehi and gets in ahead of likes of Tomori. Weghorst is in front of the pecking order for Holland over Zirzkee who has been courted by big teams and recently signed by United, as well and Brobbey who has been linked with Arsenal. Cucu had a brilliant tournament, however Grimaldo who was sensational was behind him despite being the best LB/LWB in Europe last season.

Duran has not starte dloads of games at club level, so not a surprise right now.

I won't even bother bringing up the countless amounts of times a talented player has sat behind a lesser talented player in the international game.

I really, REALLY like the long term signings the club have made. Some of these teenaged talents look excellent. But I hope now that Anselmino is finally sealed he’s the last one for a while. We’re going to create a serious problem for ourselves where we buy so many youngsters that we totally block their pathway.

That's not how you play football manager in real life.  You need to sign every wonderkid out there and hope that 2-3 of them somehow develop enough to play in your first team 😆

Transfer: Arsenal, Chelsea battle to sign Julian Alvarez from Man City

Arsenal and Chelsea are in a two-way battle to sign Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.

The Athletic reports that Alvarez wants to leave the Premier League champions in search of more playing time.

The 24-year-old would also prefer to live in a warmer climate than Manchester.

It is understood City would not stand in the striker’s way. However, they would demand a £60m transfer fee, plus a further £17m in add-ons.

Atletico Madrid are interested in the player, but are unwilling to meet City’s asking price.
