It would be great if we had some clarity on the Olise situation. Did he reject us last season, or was it simply due to the legal stuff that prevented him coming here?

I think he is the better talent/more impactful player compared to Alvarez and cheaper. Just don't know if he wants to be here, and his recent hamstring stuff this last season isn't the most reassuring thing.

Olise a better talent and more impactful player than Alvarez? Not a chance.

City didn’t have the best start at the beginning of the season but Alvarez stepped into the void left by KdB who was injured, racking up like 15 goal involvements in his first 20 games. This whilst playing upfront instead of Haaland when he was injured, in tandem with Haaland as a 10 or off the right.

Still doubtful Pep will let him leave or he would want to leave City as I think he has underlined his huge importance to them but if he were available and wanted to come here, we should be all over him. Never mind Olise. Yes Alvarez is not an out and out tradition number 9 but certainly someone who can play that role still to huge effect. Has real ability to get in behind teams and find space whilst also being able to link up nicely with others.

I’d be open to us  fleecing a bunch of attacking players - lukaku , Sterling and even some of the younger ones like madueke and gallagher If it mean signing both Alvarez and sesko. I think they’d be ideal together

Did you mean to say flogging, instead of fleecing?

Exclusive: PSG plan to offer key Man City star Julian Alvarez a long-term deal after meeting representatives

https://www.caughtoffside.com/2024/06/08/psg-man-city-julian-alvarez/

Paris Saint-Germain are pursuing Man City’s Julian Alvarez ahead of the 2024/25 campaign with the Ligue 1 champions ready to offer the World Cup winner a long-term deal.

The French giants parted ways with Kylian Mbappe this summer and the superstar’s departure has freed up a lot of funds in Paris as they set about trying to replace the new Real Madrid man.

Sources have told CaughtOffside that PSG have met with the representatives of Man City‘s Alvarez and have informed them that they want to make the Argentina international a priority signing during the upcoming transfer window.

The Ligue 1 champions plan to offer the 24-year-old a long-term contract until 2029, but they will find it difficult to convince Man City to allow the forward to leave the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola wants to keep Alvarez for the 2024/25 campaign having been a key player for the Premier League champions this season. Alvarez featured in 54 matches for the Spaniard’s team, scoring 19 goals alongside 13 assists.

The Argentine is believed to be happy at Man City and will not demand to leave despite recent rumours.

Man City cannot lose Julian Alvarez this summer

Alvarez proved to be a valuable asset to Man City this season as the World Cup winner is a top talent, who can also play in a variety of roles.

The Premier League champions cannot afford to lose the Argentina star as the 24-year-old continues to get better, this is especially true regarding other Premier League clubs as Chelsea are also said to be keeping an eye on the forward’s situation at the Etihad.

The Blues are in the market for a new player to play up front but just like PSG, the London outfit will find it hard to convince Man City to part ways with their World Cup winner.

Exclusive: “The most important thing” – Romano on Benjamin Sesko’s big decision with Arsenal and Chelsea waiting

https://www.caughtoffside.com/2024/06/08/romano-benjamin-sesko-arsenal-Chelsea/

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is a player that is very much in demand at the moment.

It’s believed that as many as seven clubs are interested in the 21-year-old’s services, meaning that he clearly has a big decision to make.

At such a young age, there’s a reasonable argument to be made that he could, and perhaps should continue his footballing education at his current club.

Benjamin Sesko is a player in demand

There appears to a tendency in football these days for young players to make the leap to supposed ‘bigger’ clubs as soon as possible, when perhaps it is detrimental to their long-term careers.

If they’re good enough, the opportunities will still be there two or three years hence.

One can even point to Kylian Mbappe’s time at Paris Saint-Germain and the fact he extended that for a couple of years more than everyone thought he would, moving to Real Madrid at just the right time and when he was ready to do so.

Whether Sesko decides to move on or not, it’s clearly an important decision and one that he should be making sooner rather than later.

“The most important thing for Benjamin Sesko is to decide upon first of all whether to accept RB Leipzig’s proposal of a contract extension and bigger salary. He has to tell them his feelings before the Euros, and whether he will stay and extend or leave and try a new experience,” Fabrizio Romano said to CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

“Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal have presented their projects and all three clubs are waiting to hear from Benjamin Sesko.

“They all have different projects, different ideas, a different vision and obviously different plans as well as different kinds of proposals in terms of salary.

“I can guarantee to you that, as of today, Benjamin Sesko has still not decided where he will go, but he had some contacts with the clubs to understand about the projects and he will decide in the crucial days ahead.”

“Things will happen in June” – Fabrizio Romano’s specific update on Chelsea and Raheem Sterling

https://www.caughtoffside.com/2024/06/08/romano-Chelsea-raheem-sterling/

With a new manager in charge at Chelsea, the contract situations of Raheem Sterling and his team-mates will be brought into sharp focus.

Enzo Maresca has been tasked by Todd Boehly to take the Blues to the promised land, something the first-team failed to do under Mauricio Pochettino.

It’s a big task for the 44-year-old Italian who has never managed at the highest level before, let alone for an outfit that has seemingly cornered the market in big-name transfer deals over the last 18 months or so.

Important moment for Raheem Sterling and Chelsea

Owner, Todd Boehly, has made a real splash since buying the club from Roman Abramovich, but as yet it has failed to yield any type of success.

That’s despite, or perhaps because of, a constant turnover of playing staff.

Trying to get a settled XI has been nigh on impossible too because of persistent injuries to key players.

In the case of Romeo Lavia, despite being signed last summer, he’s still yet to make his mark in a Blue shirt.

Christopher Nkunku took two steps forward and one back throughout the 2023/24 campaign, and there were other players unable to contribute in the way in which perhaps they and the club wanted.

Raheem Sterling was given a fair crack but the former international’s form has fallen off a cliff.

In the space of just a couple of years, he’s gone from England and club regular to an also ran, and that has led to suggestions that he could be joining Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce.

“The strikers market is slowing entering important weeks and things will happen in June, but someone who is not planning to make a move at least as of now is Raheem Sterling,” Fabrizio Romano said to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing.

“He isn’t leaving Chelsea and joining Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahçe, even if the Turkish club are willing to make very good investments for the Portuguese manager.

“I repeat, there is absolutely nothing between Raheem Sterling and Fenerbahçe. Zero. No contracts ongoing, no negotiations ongoing, no talks.

“We will follow the situation but everything is really quiet around Sterling at the moment.”

Exclusive: “Newcastle have no power” – Fabrizio Romano’s significant update on Bruno Guimaraes

https://www.caughtoffside.com/2024/06/08/newcastle-romano-bruno-guimaraes/

He’s long been one of if not the most important player for Newcastle United, but the next few weeks could be crucial for Bruno Guimaraes’ future at St. James’ Park.

The Brazilian has consistently shown his worth to Eddie Howe and his team-mates with a series of commanding performances in the centre of the Magpies midfield.

Whether providing a supplementary presence in attack, breaking up play in midfield or getting back to help his defenders, Guimaraes can be relied upon to give 100 percent in every game.

Bruno Guimaraes release clause is still valid

And yet, he could walk away from the club this summer and there won’t be a thing that Howe or the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) can do about it.

Despite their evident riches, no amount of money in the world will be able to keep the player at St. James’ Park if a club should come calling for his services in the next fortnight.

“The situation hasn’t changed at Newcastle. They will try their best to keep their stars as Howe said,” Fabrizio Romano said to CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

“For Bruno Guimaraes, there’s a release clause and that’s it – Newcastle have no power whatsoever until June 23, which is the day when the clause will expire.

“On any other player, it’s quiet now but things depend on the proposals as always.”

At present, fortunately for anyone connected with the Magpies, no clubs appear to have stepped forward to start talks with the Brazilian.

Given that his release clause is believed to be as high as £100m, that may be putting potential suitors off, despite Guimaraes showing that he’d be worth every penny.

Release clauses now appear to be a regular part of contract negotiations in the modern game, with agents clearly advising their clients as to their insertion, given that other opportunities could reveal themselves in the future and without a release clause, the player would be forced to stay put, even against his will.

Bruno Guimaraes is reportedly happy in Newcastle, and so the next two weeks will be an interesting time indeed.

Is there any truth to these Nkunku rumours about him leaving Chelsea?

Rumours from Germany are circulating about the possibility of Nkunku leaving Chelsea this summer

Many rumours in the recent hours about the future of Christopher Nkunku, some rumours coming from Germany about the possibility for Christopher Nkunku to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window, about him receiving some important proposals and maybe try a new experience.

What I can say is that according to my information, there is absolutely nothing concrete into it.

The idea at Chelsea is very clear, it is to continue with Nkunku and Nkunku is also thinking about performing and succeeding at Chelsea, so not planning to leave the club in this summer transfer window.

Christopher Nkunku knows that his first season was really unlucky in terms of injury, also Chelsea are still waiting to see the best of the player they signed last year.

And so I don't anticipate or expect any change, any transfer in the summer. I see Christopher Nkunku staying at Chelsea and being part of the project next season.

Alphonso Davies - There has been no change in Alphonso Davies’ situation despite reports stating that he is leaning towards signing a new deal with Bayern Munich. The player has a new contract proposal from Bayern and Real Madrid are waiting to see what he does. We just have to wait and see what the full-back decides. If Davies wants to leave, Real Madrid will make their move, but the La Liga champions will only proceed with favourable conditions.

Crysencio Summerville - Liverpool and Chelsea have both been scouting Crysencio Summerville for months, but then in terms of negotiations, nothing has started yet. Talk of the Reds no longer being interested in the winger can’t be true as it is still early for this transfer. The appreciation from both clubs is still there, so we have to see if they decide to approach Leeds for Summerville at some point during the transfer window.

See we’re buying yet another Brazilian teenager 🤣🤣🤣🙃🙃🙃

In a year or two’s time the squad is going to show up for preseason and have about 15 “super talents” that are 17-18 years old. No idea what we’re going to do with all these kids.

oh,🤬 no

One striker looks desperate to join Chelsea this summer.

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/transfer-news/special-striker-tells-agent-he-wants-Chelsea-move-this-summer/

GettyImages-1933189379.jpg

The Blues could bring in a new centre-forward when the transfer window opens, with Enzo Maresca arguably in need of one.

His predecessor, Mauricio Pochettino, finished last season with just one natural striker in his squad, Nicolas Jackson.

That is unlikely to be enough for Chelsea next term if they want to qualify for the Champions League.

To help ease the burden on Jackson, they could turn to one of their Premier League rivals.

Premier League star eyeing Chelsea move

Chelsea have recruited a lot of players from within the Premier League recently.

For example, last summer, they signed both Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion. They could now raid another English top-flight club.

According to the Daily Mirror (page 72, 09/06/2024), Chelsea retain an interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran after targeting him in the January transfer window.

The same publication has also claimed that Duran has instructed his agent to get a deal done, so a move this summer looks more than possible.

Will Chelsea make a move for Jhon Duran this summer?

Right now, Chelsea’s interest in Duran looks to be just that. Their priority for the centre-forward position seems to be RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that the Blues have already communicated to Leipzig that they are prepared to activate Sesko’s release clause.

However, there is no guarantee that Chelsea will land the 21-year-old, with Arsenal and Manchester United also said to be keen on him.

Should Sesko end up joining one of those clubs, then Chelsea may decide to go after Duran, who has been described as a “special player” by his current manager Unai Emery.

Duran made 23 appearances for Villa in the Premier League last season, scoring five goals along the way. He scored a brace against Liverpool and one goal versus Manchester City, so he clearly has potential.
