Still having Vinicius and Rodrygo for one Reinier (not even counting Endrick yet) is a great bussiness He wasn't talked about in the same breath as the other two, 5 hours ago, King Kante said: Gruissey (who I suspect you're referring to here) has zero experience at the top end of European football and only has been putting up good stats in Germany where the football is wide open - barring Häland, who is an absolute elite player - I cannot think of many attackers who have come from Germany and have been able to adjust to the PL in the past 5 years, probably longer. For me, January is a time to sell but not buy. I say this as except from the odd example - Suarez is the one that stands out - Jan buys are normally overpriced and struggle. For me, Jan is the time to get loans in to cover as best as you can if you do need something. As for Karim, I am not thinking he will come in play 90 mins week in, week out and bang in 15 goals. Instead I think he is the type of player the young boys can learn from and he could help us out with 60 mins / from off the bench. Additionally, while his age is a concern, it isn't something that worries me so much owing to his profile. I say this as he relies on his intelligence, off the ball movement and technical qualities in tight areas. He isn't someone we need to make lung busting runs to get on the end of things and/or run his socks off trying to win the ball back - as we have enough players that do that. All we need from him is to find/open up space and finish well. That I think he can still do - ok, not as great as when he was 27-33 - as his game is one that doesn't rely completely on his physical attributes. For sure, he would be a risk. However, I prefer a short loan to guide us through the rest of the season, than going out and spending/commiting seriously to a player that isn't elite and/or looks like they are guranteed to become elite. The CF market is simply too bereft of options to get that, especially in January. I couldn't agree more with the first part. Dzeko (who was also signed in the winter window) and Son are the only other players to come from Germany and deliver in the Prem. In regards to Benz, I'd be more worried about his demeanour than about anything else. I'd personally keep well clear of anyone who's gone over to Saudi for a final payday. If we're really interested in a CF, we should get someone who's still playing at the highest level on loan until the summer before buying a worthy CF. I'm not disputing that. I just commented on your post about Brazil no longer being the gold mine it once was. The issue with our transfer business is that there's no balance between youth and experience, which is evident in most of our performances. Lucas is the one name that sticks out who falls under that bracket. Edited January 15, 2024 by LAM09

bluesman2610 1,418
Benzema would be ideal but Firmino knows the league and he’s a great assist maker. Just need the other players to put away the chances. Or we stay away and wait til summer to buy a proper forward

Plus he seems to be a technical player, rather than one with physicality. In the PL, you need to be REALLY skilled to succeed as a technical attacker. On the flip side, what's the point of this shiny new recruitment team of ours, if all our targets end up being overpriced like this one? I am not sure if he has even started a league game this season but did score a brilliant goal for Villa in one of their league games this season against Palace and when he comes on it is usually very late during the game. FWIW I think he will be a really good striker in future. Has the physical ability and has good pace. Villa wouldn't let him go anyway as he is the back up to Watkins. I saw him for the first time last weekend and he was decent after coming on. Didn't manage to take his chances but he immediately improved Villa's attacking threat, was able to hold off defenders and keep attacks going. Not an option for Chelsea but he can be a good striker in the league Stats
DDA 9,941
Turns out after doing some digging.. the Sporting fans absolutely love Vikto Gyokeres. Say he's an absolute beast. One of their best signings in recent history. His game has evolved from his Conventry days and that he doesn't miss.
