Could be non sense but seeing reports we are after Ferland Mendy. Now here is my problem we are going to give Madrid £47m for Mendy so they can turn around and pay £43m-55m for Alphonso Davies(who was a Chelsea fan growing up) please make it make sense.

We knew this was coming IE Jackson to AFCON and Broja was expected to offer nothing like he is doing, yet we are back scratching in the lot property bin once again

They propably thought Nkunku can cover for Jackson

True. Karim didn't have major injury but he is 36. A lot older than all of the dud loans. There's a possibility he won't able to cope with the demands of the league even. And we will need to change the striker again in the summer and start all over again.

Signing a 27-29 year old will also bring in the experience and has a better chance of working out medium term.

Gruissey (who I suspect you're referring to here) has zero experience at the top end of European football and only has been putting up good stats in Germany where the football is wide open - barring Häland, who is an absolute elite player - I cannot think of many attackers who have come from Germany and have been able to adjust to the PL in the past 5 years, probably longer.

For me, January is a time to sell  but not buy. I say this as except from the odd example  - Suarez is the one that stands out - Jan buys are normally overpriced and struggle. For me, Jan is the time to get loans in to cover as best as you can if you do need something.

As for Karim, I am not thinking he will come in play 90 mins week in, week out and bang in 15 goals. Instead I think he is the type of player the young boys can learn from and he could help us out with 60 mins / from off the bench. Additionally, while his age is a concern, it isn't something that worries me so much owing to his profile. I say this as he relies on his intelligence, off the ball movement and technical qualities in tight areas. He isn't someone we need to make lung busting runs to get on the end of things and/or run his socks off trying to win the ball back - as we have enough players that do that. All we need from him is to find/open up space and finish well. That I think he can still do - ok, not as great as when he was 27-33 - as his game is one that doesn't rely completely on his physical attributes.

For sure, he would be a risk. However, I prefer a short loan to guide us through the rest of the season, than going out and spending/commiting seriously to a player that isn't elite and/or looks like they are guranteed to become elite. The CF market is simply too bereft of options to get that, especially in January.

CL is also another tournament where most teams go for it very open. That doesn’t prove your point watch any final that we aren’t in those games generally are end to end

It proves that these players are capable, despite your attempts to discredit them. Talent is talent.

It won't be three times in a row - they signed Reinier for 30 mln and he is a flop. Still having Vinicius and Rodrygo for one Reinier (not even counting Endrick yet) is a great bussiness

He wasn't talked about in the same breath as the other two,

I couldn't agree more with the first part. Dzeko (who was also signed in the winter window) and Son are the only other players to come from Germany and deliver in the Prem.

In regards to Benz, I'd be more worried about his demeanour than about anything else. I'd personally keep well clear of anyone who's gone over to Saudi for a final payday. If we're really interested in a CF, we should get someone who's still playing at the highest level on loan until the summer before buying a worthy CF.

For every Vini , Rodrygo, and maybe Endrick(we’ll see) , there are plenty Gabigol, Malcom,Arthur. Again not against finding a gem but our recruitment is too focused on unearthing the next. We need established players who can raise the level of the team now. Not maybe in 3-4  years.

I'm not disputing that. I just commented on your post about Brazil no longer being the gold mine it once was. The issue with our transfer business is that there's no balance between youth and experience, which is evident in most of our performances.

Lucas is the one name that sticks out who falls under that bracket.
