He's more than promising, he's as guaranteed a bet as Reece James was in 2019.

The only way he should be sold is if he starts behaving in ways that keeping him becomes impossible.

I get the sense that this will happen sooner rather than later. He might be HG, but I can see a similar situation to Thibo's transpiring should he remain this summer.

What do you guys think about moving James to DMF? I think he has the tools for it and because of his body, he is always going to be susceptible to injury running up and down the flank. He played there a bit while at Wigan. It would mean we only need to sign Caicedo and another starting RB.

We dont need a big squad having 1 game per week so maybe he can be used in both positions depending on the squad situation.

21st most valuable is castagne who must be leaving Leicester at some point this summer and at 27 he has a few years left in him before his legs go. If maddison went for 50m, surely 25m would be enough to turn their heads.

Other options could be:

Molina as we were linked to him in January

Pavard as he is linked with a move every window

Tino if we still have a buyback

Geertruida who I've heard good things about but not sure how the step up would suit him.

I'm also wary of signing someone young to compete with Malo Gusto as it could make him feel like his path is blocked like colwill probably feels now with Badman being a starter for most of the last year.

In comparison, not only would another DMF be more expensive, most re not remotely availible. Rice, ugarte, Neves and Tonali have all moved on this summer. Zubimendi is waiting for barca. Unless Tchou magically becomes availible this summer, and I don't even think he would move to us with no CL. The only ones I like the look of are Onana and Palhinha. However, both play for relegation level teams and might struggle to make the step up. Lavia is a bit further down. I think someone like Lavia or Onana is best because our MF is short AF and all it would take is long balls into the DM area and then a long shot past kepa to beat us....

he is another winger?

I think he's a AMF. Basically the Mount replacement, although imo he looks like the Ziyech 2.0

I agree, this is why it would be the perfect season to make the transition. And then maybe sign a DMF or RB depending on how it goes.

Yes, I am in favour of this, honestly a midfield of Reece as a DM, Enzo as a left 8 and Caicedo as a right 8 could be phenomenal and able to hold their own at any level of football.

With regards to squad size, I think we are moving in the direction of Pep with a smaller squad and lots of players that can play multiple positions. Pep won the treble like this and dominated English football for quite a while now. It has obvious risks but clearly can be insane when it works. I also think this is why the club is not going crazy to sign lots of CMs, thinking we have options who can play there (Santos, Hall, Colwill, Reece all very sensible options imo), but just targeting players they think are potentially elite and important for the long term, who will almost definitely be useful somewhere (Caicedo for example can play 3 positions - AT LEAST - competently)

Poch will want the Dembele equivalent, who was criminally underrated at Spuds, interested to see what formation we line up with, I’d be disappointed if we saw Enzo dropping deep in all honesty.

I am guessing we'll see variations of something along the lines of these two (assuming we ever actually sign Caicedo), depending on who may end up nailing down a spot and becoming undroppable:

Jackson

Mudryk Nkunku Madueke

Enzo Caicedo

Chilwell Bads Fofana Reece

Kepa

Sterling Jackson Nkunku

Enzo Reece Caicedo

Chilwell Colwill Fofana Gusto

Kepa

Hasn't Poch been mainly a 4-2-3-1 man?

So maybe something like that if the likes of Caicedo and Cherki were signed? Could easily put Badiashile at LCB, Silva at RCB, Mudryk at LW as starters without affecting the lineup quality too much.

Maatsen as Chilly's backup if Cucurella can be flogged off (unlikely) and Slonina as 2nd choice keeper if a new goalie isn't signed. As for who the other options for the two midfield positions will be I have no idea, I'm sure Poch will want to have a look at the youngsters we already have before making any decisions.

If Caicedo can't be signed it gets a bit trickier.
