The downside is getting players to agree with those terms - because they are essentially forfeiting opportunities to bump up their pay with contract renewals, they might ask for higher wages to begin with. The downside is they may flop and be stuck on the books for ages. It is something I first saw Tottenham doing and it has worked to keep them relevant despite being (relatively speaking) cash poor. And now confirmation that Zakaria will be out for more than a month. I imagine the noise about us bringing in a midfielder will heat up substantially this week. If we had signed Enzo we could be making a real go of it with all these new signings. At least made those competing for that 4th spot sweat.
