Nah Messi completely sent him to fetch toast. No shame in that but was an obvious mistake by Gvardiol to be sold this easy to the inside route and IMO shows that he is not as good as his hype yet. Whether he is worth 100m on potential is another question.

130 for gvardiol is not much if hes gonna be a Chelsea cb for the next 10 years. with fofana and colwill already here we have a good young squad for years to come. one position we wont have to think for a few years.

that being said, hes not coming here lmao

Does it? IMO gvardiol looks super ponderous and slow there Esp on the final turn where he erreneously puts his weight on his right foot. Maybe tired from back to back 120mins shifts but no way Prime Thiago gets shafted there. This is 35yo Messi and Gvardiol is 20 and supposedly one of the fastest defenders in Bundesliga. Messi beats him with his acceleration twice. Gvardiol should get his body between Messi and the goal way more assertively

forget Fofana, he is wrecked for good. Another 80m sunk cost.
But yeah it is all academic, gvardiol won’t come here but I don’t mind there are plenty of quality defenders out there but the club will surely snipe the cucurellas and fofana Alf this world.

Completely disagree, Gvardiol is the best young CB I have seen in years

he is worth at least £100m

Think everyone agrees spending that hefty fee for Gvardiol is worth it, if not in the short term in the long run, we had a chance in the summer yet the owner for some reason decided not to give into Leipzig's demands after a summer where he overpaid massively for just about everyone.

I saw Cucurella get skinned alive by a 16 years old guy last week but the owner had no problem overpaying for him but somehow pulled the plug on Gvardiol, what a strange person, for someone who talks about data when recruiting he seems to do the complete opposite, although maybe Cucurella will turn good at some point so far signs don't point to it.

Cucurella was a shit buy, especiallyfor that cray price. Warned on it. He was pushed on us before last summer too and I said no then as well.

Did we pull the plug or did Leipzig (logically) decide to wait before finalising anything?

Didn't a certain 18 year old from Belgium say something similar over a decade ago?

It's nice to see, but I wouldn't take much from it.

Would have been fine if he was up to it as a footballer. It wasn't his talk that was the problem. 🙂 DDF is streets ahead of Rom technically so he already looks to me like someone who should be able to walk his talk better than Rom ever could.

I like DDF, and will be delighted if we bring him in. Adding the Russian lad would make it a pleasing, and very encouraging, window. Encouraging in that we'd be getting the right level of prospect, at the right end of the market. The end of the market where some instances of failure must be expected, but where failures are not financially ruinous, and where success is automatically a jackpot.

Don't see we have any choice but to hope that the injury won't be terminal, as you fear. The real problem of course is that we should never have paid anything even remotely close to £80m for him.

Agree. Very average, despite all the distracting dynamic hair shaking.
