I could see the possibility of De Jong being sold to us to make way for Raphinha to join them.

It would be better business for us IMO.

Also FDJ can play CB.

Ofcourse in the long run it would be a waste of his talents but it could (in the event of us missing on MDL) buy us time to get a proper structure in and identify the perfect fit in that position and from next year onwards he truly succeeds Jorgi as our long term DLP.

CB!!

I haven't seen him play there but I also couldn't imagine for the life of me he would be any good there.

Is Dest good?

Offensively, he is pacy, aggressive, and always looking to hit players moving forward. Gets into trouble getting out of position and not tracking back fast enough. His positional awareness is bad.

He played there 21 times combined in Barca and Ajax.

It wouldn't be an every week thing (in the case of us missing out totally on preferred CBs I'll go back 4 with Silva partnering Trevoh or Colwill) just more the option there type of thing to get us by until we can find our long term answer.

Sterling is so not a wingback, he would be a disaster there, he is short AF (listed 1.70m and I say more like 1.68m, so a full 20cm shorter than Alonso, for instance) and not exactly know for his defence, so we would get lit up by opposition LW'ers, AMF's, and CF/SS's

and Emerson and Maatsen (Maatsen is even shorter than Sterling at only 1.67m) are NOT acceptable options

I have no idea why some want to erect a squad of midgets

this is not La Liga (and even they have more vertical/aerial play than say 20 years ago) or a South American league

Chelsea product Sterling is 1.86, from what I have seen he is probably a better fit at RCB, doesn’t have the speed or attack to be effective at WB, but looks sturdy enough to play RCB.

I think @Tomo also suggested it, RWB is probably the best fit for Galllagher if we continue with the current formation. Don’t know what took Tuchel so long to play RLC in that role, he is a much better fit at that role then anyone else outside of Reece. Given Gallagher work rate, I think his potential is higher.

Not sure how he'd fair at CB in the Prem, but it's nice to have options. This window's dealings shouldn't be as hard as we're making it; Koulibaly, FDJ, Dembele (or Sterling, as things are looking) & someone like Cornet would be a solid window in all fairness.

If Leipzig's duo continue to perform, go after them next year & we'd only really be short of a DMF.

Unless Todd is demanding the title at all costs next season I'll rather not panic because it will benefit us in the long run (Tuchel is too good a coach to have us failing with top four).

FC Barcelona and Chelsea have concluded the summit between both clubs in the Via Veneto restaurant in Barcelona. Above the table, the names of the players Marcos Alonso, César Azpilicueta and Frenkie de Jong. One of the first ones to leave London and arrive in Barcelona, although the third one to register for the 'blue' club.

In the case of the possible names to call back in Barça, the meeting has concluded with the certainty that Chelsea will sell to the players, and they could enter, or no, in the Frenkie operation.

For now, all lanes are open, although it is clear that if it is without De Jong, there will also be agreement. In any case, in the azulgranas workshops, the meeting has ended with good feelings and we don't want the culebrón to expand further than the account. That's why the announcements could be imminent, so they won't go to the preseason tour of Tuchel's team in the United States

In the case of the Azulgrana football player, as we have been told in SPORT, Barça was open to sale and would prefer to have separate operations. In these moments, everyone is still open and the ball is on the roof with Chelsea, which has to convince the footballer that he also has a powerful offer from Manchester United.

We’re going to end up with 2 above average CB’s this window by the look of it. Every top one is slowly being checked off the list.

Aké + Kimpembe would be unbelievably underwhelming. I’d rather just take the chance with Colwill playing a major role than spend big money on Kimpembe.

Precisely. If Tuchel's main targets aren't available, just wait.

We're still dealing with a massive amount of deadwood as a result of doing the exact opposite for far too long.
