Keeper is non-negotiable, centre forward you could sneak by without a third if you have sufficient versatility within the squad. We tried that last season with people like Nkunku but it didn't work. Not convinced it would with current squad options either. Two best teams on the planet last season PSG and Liverpool play without number 9 not only in unlikely potential emergency situations but all the time. So they sneak it not only without third but without second and even first in Liverpool's case. Ok, PSG have Ramos who is more of a backup. Real Madrid is also without a proper striker. I remember Palmer did it fairly well in 2:2 draw against Arsenal in 23/24 season. Also Neto is solid option especially if you surround him with fast and technical players like himself. Simons, Estevao, Gittens... Defenders would have huge problems to deal with all of them. Last season we just had Jackson who is known for his disciplinary issues and Nkunku was literally his first replacement who also has very bad injury record and is not a proper striker. Guiu was there with his own issues. But this season with Joao Pedro and Delap who both have great injury records it's dramatically less likely we would be in the need for a third option. FrankLampard007 18
We dont need 3 clear strikers. Even if Jackson leaves. I hope he will leave because he is not a good finisher and his football brain is not existing. With Pedro and Delap we should be good because. neto, palmer, nkunku can also play in that position. I would keep nkunku if jackson leaves. Stats

Meanwhile, we’ve been negotiating with Simons for nearly 3 weeks and no bid. Will the move still happen? Probably. But would’ve been very helpful to have him in for at least one of this weekend’s preseason matches. Ben Jacobs says that Newcastle have Leipzig’s other striker Openda on their list, btw. If the Sesko move doesn’t affect their stance with Xavi, surely they would change their mind if Newcastle throw money at them for Openda. So again, we need to push to get this done asap. kexik

Just need to relax on Simons, like I said before there is so much going on and knock on effects with outgoings for us, Leipzig and others. It's like moving chess pieces and it's not a simple quick thing, money coming in is needed to go out, money going out needs to come in, it's one big circle. I'm not worried about Simons, too much is being said and he wants us, it will get done.
mkh 766
Darwin Nunez and Al Hilal exclusive story. The agreement club to club with Liverpool is 100% done. Understand initial fee will be €53m plus heavy add-ons easy to reach to bring total package higher. 😵
Pizy 19,290
Darwin to Saudi means one less option for Newcastle. There was some talk about him going the other way as part of the Isak deal. Jackson going there seeming more and more like their last, best option.
DH1988 1,356
That’s crazy money, I’d of honestly taken Nunez for that amount and let Jackson go.
mkh 766
Chelsea’s unwanted players have been working separately at Cobham for almost a month, building fitness while they and their representatives work on finding moves elsewhere. Pizy 19,290
You’d have to assume that Liverpool know Isak is coming for them to allow Darwin to go leaving them with only Ekitike for the time being. Which in turn means that Newcastle must have something in place with a new striker since they can’t let Isak leave before that. Wonder if we get news of a Jackson bid today. If Jackson goes for a cool 60m (double the amount we paid for him), I think we can do business again - Xavi and Garnacho to round out the squad
