Gittens is Sancho replacement.

Pedro for Nkunku.

Bar is not high to be better, no?

People forget we have 3rd best defense in the league behind Liverpool and Arsenal. And that was with best CB out almost full season, captain and starting RB also was out significant time and DM who provides great defensive protection. Not to mention first season with Marescaball. Learning process.

On the other hand in attack we were lacking. Absolutely makes sense to get 3 attackers now already Delap, Gittens and Pedro.

At least we won't hear anymore how are rivals are getting all targets early and only here nothing happens.

I guess the thinking might be that Gittens is more aggressive and assertive than Sancho and that João Pedro isn’t a lazy ass like Nkunku. Are they “better” players than Sancho and Nkunku? Probably not. Do they suit what Maresca wants from attackers? That must be what the club are thinking.

I’m going to take a wait and see approach with João Pedro. As others have said, Caicedo and Cucu came from Brighton and are beasts now. Maybe this guy can be the next one. He’s clearly super talented.

no way we will fight for the title with this board. until they complete 10 years at Chelsea, we only will fight for top4 and internal cups

I will not be surprised if ChelseaFC adds ONE more player to their squad in an OFFENSIVE position this summer.

They are still looking at options, and let's see what happens with outgoings.  Let's keep an eye on it.

Chelsea are still discussing whether another forward is needed. Hugo Ekitike is one potential target. Whether they move may now depend on whether Nicolas Jackson departs.

Most ppl will have seen plenty of Joao Pedro so I would say the overall fan reaction and sentiment is sound in this case. A good, versatile footballer but not a great goalscorer. The thing is we have plenty of these players already. So clearly the ambition by the Bord sis not to sign a ready made wc striker to compete for titles. The frustration over this is understandable but let’s now this is established let’s take a step back and see the signing in isolation.

For me has had always been one to watch since he came into the league spearheading an awful Watford side. back then his ability to hold onto the ball and link up play was already impressive even at age 20. he was usually the only player in the opposition half most of the time Often, after Watford had aimlessly launched the ball upfield he shielded it for a good 20 seconds till support arrived. None of our players quite has this ability; we produce a lot of turnovers whenever we get into the final third, I expect this to decrease with him. I would have preferred a proper, experienced goalscorer ofc but what Pedro brings to the table can be valuable too.

Now from the economic side, 50m+ for a homegrown, PL proven Brazil international  sounds fair enough but remember he was already most of that when Brighton signed him for half in 2023 while the board wasted money on mudryk, Joao Felix, Kellyman etc who were nowhere near the same level

EXCL: Liverpool are now in direct discussions with Marc Guehi. The move is set to accelerate after Jarell Quansah officially leaves. Guehi only wants Liverpool move.

Chelsea have a 20% sell-on clause for Marc Guehi.

I dislike the fact that we're seemingly putting all our eggs in the Wesley Fofana basket., for defence.

Even when he's fit and in form, there are question marks about whether he can go onto become a world-beater like Carvalho.

Then there's the bigger question mark about how his fitness will be after so many injuries. With Reece James, you know there's an intelligent, WC player in there. So whenever he comes back, you know he can deliver.

Not sure I can say the same with Fofana. And what happens if he's out again? Badiashile again? Tosin?
