these are no longer the times of the past and they don’t want players who are over 24 years old and as expensive as Osimhen. Leipzig’s Sesko is more in line with Chelsea’s new line

LOL

osimhen is 25 years old Lol

I think the line of thinking is more like buying Osimhen before they go to Napoli.

Sure when Napoli bought him cost a lot but they rather paid that years ago then now.

the truth is that many of the players the club bought were even bought from smaller clubs.

there are exceptions like ballack, sheva or recently lukaku from inter, but most of them were from simpler clubs

as an example,
cahill - bolton
azpi - marseille
hazard - lille
willian - shakthar
matic, david luiz - benfica
alonso - fiori
kante - leicester
remy - lille
oscar - sao paulo
havertz - bayern
werner - leipzig
rudiger - rome
etc etc

only players like filipe luis, fabregas or belletti or deco or pedro were bought from big clubs, but they were the exception.

Feel like very random few names from almost 20 years of time.. But generally it's not surprising, big clubs do not really want their top form and age stars go, so they often making bidding wars for the next big things, who often happen to play for "feeder clubs" such as Benfica.

More importantly, Willian was signed from Anzhi Makhachkala!

just to explain that this type of approach was relatively common in our club.

there are exceptions, and I could add thiago silva, but as a rule they go for players from smaller clubs

Most on the list are big clubs🤔 just because they aren't from England's top 6 doesn't make them any smaller.

No longer want players over the age of 24? Or expensive? Wow. Only took them £1bn with at least £200-300m on players they probably didn’t need to sign. Signing players under the age of 24 is basically what they’ve done from day 1. They will never learn.

Chelsea should buy all the young under 24 year old footballers named ENZO and they buy the trademark the word ENZO and make a killing. Chelsea merch with ENZO CFC.

Transfermarkt - search Enzo.

Meh, I disagree. In the same way I wasn’t that bothered about Mount going. Remember all the journalists and opposition fans killing us last summer and saying we were absolutely mad to sell Mount and that we’d regret it for years? And now we’re the ones laughing because we don’t miss him at all.

It would be annoying for sure to see him at Spuds. But he isn’t a game changing signing. He’s just a solid PL midfielder like lots of midtable clubs have. He’s not a match winner, he’s not decisive in the final third, and his talent is nowhere near the other midfielders we have.

Unless we enter the season with one of Lavia, Enzo, or Caicedo injured again long term I can’t imagine a scenario where I say “damn, we could really use Gallagher here.” He performed well in the chaos football that Poch played where Conor could just run around nonstop like a madman, but I don’t see him being as useful in heavy possession side where quick intricate football is the goal.

Prob helps your argument, but people's memory of Mount is kinda funny. He was decisive in a way Conor not yet dreamt of. In 21 CL run he scored in the quarters (Porto), semis (Real Madrid), and assisted in the final. It's also a bit soon to praise that sale given his age, and the season he had -- would be akin to rule out Nkunku because of his fitness struggles. Kai was struggling too  until he wasn't.

I agree your assessment tho. If I were forced to give a contrarian argument, would just say that having a player clicking the way Conor has, isn't something to disregard so quickly. Also that some of or subs in midfield are very green and/or not very good (Ugo).

I do hope we don't fuck about this summer, get all buying done in time for everyone to have a full and proper preseason and spend the rest of summer just working on flogging players.

Look at how much Caicedo struggled arriving so late in the window... Lets not fuck about this time. Much less business to do as well, and the club have had all year to think about specific targets. The only difference now is to focus in on ones suitable for the new manager maybe.
