I am guessing we'll see variations of something along the lines of these two (assuming we ever actually sign Caicedo), depending on who may end up nailing down a spot and becoming undroppable:

Jackson

Mudryk Nkunku Madueke

Enzo Caicedo

Chilwell Bads Fofana Reece

Kepa

Sterling Jackson Nkunku

Enzo Reece Caicedo

Chilwell Colwill Fofana Gusto

Kepa

Really want to try James in a DM position. Think he would absolutely dominate.

james has a good feel with finishing and assisting, would not play him as a dm, maybe a cm.

That is great to have in a DM too though, as the deepest player they're often available to grab the ball a bit outside of the box and either take a shot or chip it in to someone. I could see him pretty much easily playing RB, DM or as an 8 tbh. His technical skill speaks for itself. Shame about his bad luck with injuries. Hopefully our club can get a proper medical routine going to keep these players fit, Pep swears it is a key part of his success at City that took a while to get right (and why they're able to run a small squad)

Hasn't Poch been mainly a 4-2-3-1 man?

So maybe something like that if the likes of Caicedo and Cherki were signed? Could easily put Badiashile at LCB, Silva at RCB, Mudryk at LW as starters without affecting the lineup quality too much.

Maatsen as Chilly's backup if Cucurella can be flogged off (unlikely) and Slonina as 2nd choice keeper if a new goalie isn't signed. As for who the other options for the two midfield positions will be I have no idea, I'm sure Poch will want to have a look at the youngsters we already have before making any decisions.

If Caicedo can't be signed it gets a bit trickier.

I want to believe that team in this picture is the team of top 4 contenders. I want to believe.

RB Leipzig snapping up Loïc Openda, probably turn out to be a monster they'll sell on for £100m in a couple of years, he has very good numbers and has outperformed his xG by quite a bit every year so far. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he is on PL clubs transfer lists in a years time.

spurs are interested in gallegher

it would be a bit weird see him in one of our biggest rivals

Why? Hes fucking shite?

I am surprised Ange would even go for him as his sides usually rely heavily on technical midfield players, particularly at Celtic with O’Reilly, McGregor and Hatate.

Although we are that short on midfield options that we really shouldn’t sell him until we sort out at least 2 signings in there.

He's more than promising, he's as guaranteed a bet as Reece James was in 2019.

The only way he should be sold is if he starts behaving in ways that keeping him becomes impossible.

If he doesn’t want to stay or goes about things in a way as you’ve stated, we should sell though. No point keeping folk who aren’t interested in being here, regardless of what they will become. I mean thats been the message from the club this summer looking at how we’ve went around our business in terms of offloading players who aren’t interested in being here.

The initial signs from his side, although may be misconstrued, don’t look promising at all. I mean if he really wants to play for Brighton ahead of us that is worrying - more so than anything else. Hopefully the way these rumours and signs etc look changes over the next week or 2 as he has a huge chance of being a nailed on regular from day 1 (even more so with BB injured). Although he still has to earn his slot in the same way like James did, like Mase did, like Fikayo did, like Tammy did etc competing with players in certain positions/coming out of the team for others as and when also if form dictates it. Can’t just expect it to be given which if this is something he is expecting, he needs to check himself a bit.

The ethos and approach of the club and Poch has to be building around players who actually want to be here though and guys who are fully committed - particularly after the moans and groans of players downing tools last year.

It wasn't to dissimilar to what Saliba was doing for a while before getting into Arsenal's team.

I think/hope he's using his leverage. Which in many ways can't blame him for as he came back last summer ready to go only for us to sign Kouli in his position.

These guys mocked the old regime about the commercial side and now they are settling for even worse.

Something has to be wrong behind the scenes on the commercial side, man. Struggling for months to even get a sponsor at all and now we’re asking for peanuts for it? Aren’t our big club PL rivals all getting paid almost twice this for their shirt sponsorships? What are we doing?
