I don’t think they clash. I suppose if we sign not one but two new midfielders Carney could be seen as surplus. But if it’s just one then I think it’s foolish. They are mainly targeting Muslim players. It will be a lot easier to accommodate them in a country with very strict religious rules. Money does not really matter when your life becomes so difficult. The people making these decisions have a very long history in sports including the Dodgers. They have a proven track record with African American and African baseball and football players. Chelsea has a poor record in the past, along with the rest of the English clubs, and American clubs… but we are talking about the past. The present situation is people completely removed from that history. Does racism still exist, sure it does.
