Assuming Sterling is still being sought, I wonder who we’d target as the second wide player of Raphinha fails? The Dembele link seems to have died.

Raphinha’s work rate and directness are huge reasons why he’s perfect. There aren’t really many other options that are similar.

Not surprised attackers aren't really excited to come here at the moment. Obviously with our status and money we will get some players but I can understand the skepticism for someone like Raphina.  Literally no one who signed here improved and the tactics aren't great for attacking players. Tuchel noted that we don't plan on changing anything so let's see if anything improves, still think TT has a lot of questions to answer regardless of who we end up with.

Wasnt Deco there for Laporta's birthday? This very much sounds like bs to me

Seems i was right lol, this is from Matt Law: "Deco was believed to be making a final check to see if Barca could match Chelsea’s bid for Raphinha".

Dembele wage demand is really not that high, he was on 11m and Barca are offering 6m.

According to data collected by 'Football Leaks' and published in German outlet 'Der Spiegel', Barcelona's new record signing Ousmane Dembele will earn a yearly salary of at least 12 million euros (£10.4m). The German publication said that the information appears in Barcelona's internal list and that, if bonuses are included, the 20-year-old's annual salary could add up to 20 million euros (£17.3m).

The French winger made the switch from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona in a deal worth 105 million euros (£91m), but that could eventually reach 147 million (£127m) if the add-ons are triggered.

Magazine 'Sport Bild' assured that almost 30 million euros (£26m) of those bonus payments are perfectly attainable, and that the Bundesliga outfit will receive said fee if Barcelona qualify for the Champions League once in the next five years and Dembele makes 50 official appearances for the Catalan side.

Barcelona also made a 9-million-euro (£7.75m) payment to Dembele's agent for the transfer, as reported by 'Der Spiegel', and according to information supplied by 'Football Leaks'.

Full article from Matt Law:

Chelsea are still aiming to complete the signing of Raphinha, despite the threat of Barcelona attempting to hijack the deal if the Spanish club can rush through a cash injection.

Having agreed a fee of £55 million, plus add-ons, with Leeds United for the Brazilian, Chelsea have also broadly agreed personal terms with the offer of a five-year contract worth in the region of £115,000-a-week.

No problems are expected on that front and Chelsea’s new owners remain hopeful they have done enough to clinch the transfer, despite Raphinha’s agent holding 11th-hour talks with Barcelona.

Deco, the former midfielder who represents Raphinha, was spotted at Barcelona’s offices on Wednesday where it is believed he was making a final check to see if the Spaniards could somehow match Chelsea’s offer.

Barcelona have been working hard on a deal to raise over 200m euros by selling off a percentage of the club’s media rights which would allow them to trade again this summer.

A move for Robert Lewandowski has been held up while Barca try to raise the cash and the club are yet to register free transfer signings Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessi, or offer a new contract to Ousmane Dembele.

A bid to hijack Chelsea over Raphinha, who had hoped to move to the Nou Camp, also rests on a cash injection being secured quickly while Chelsea must hope they have already done enough to see off that particular threat.

It is understood that of his potential options in England, Raphinha would prioritise a move to Chelsea.

The plan remains for Raphinha to form a new £105m attack with Raheem Sterling, who Chelsea are in talks to sign, while the club are also making moves to strengthen their defence.

Alongside their talks over Sterling, Chelsea have discussed Nathan Ake with Manchester City and he remains the most likely candidate to succeed Antonio Rudiger on the left side of Thomas Tuchel’s defence.

Chelsea are also holding simultaneous talks for a number of other defenders, including Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt. Should Chelsea sign Ake and Kounde, who can also provide cover in both the full-back positions, then the club could essentially sign a third central defender as well as that pair.

The move for Ake has raised doubts over the future of talented youngster Levi Colwill, who has attracted interest from Southampton and Leicester City.

Going from Rudiger to Ake, massive downgrade and joke.

Did you read the article? It said we'd be going for de Ligt, Kounde, and Ake.

Kounde and Ake can provide us options at CB at full/wing backs. De Ligt would be the Rudiger replacement.
