Chelsea Transfers

The injury he had this season was because he tried to dive between two CBs in a WC qualifier and twisted his knee and ankle. He then did not want to come off the field when the physios wanted him to come off after being checked and ended up going down when his ankle gave way. He came back to Chelsea in crutches.

Sevilla will allow Carlos to leave'

Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol on the Transfer Show:

"The latest we are getting on Diego Carlos is that Sevilla want to keep him for their game this weekend [against Celta Vigo] but after that game, the expectation is that Sevilla will do a deal and then it's up to the player where he wants to go.

"They have had an offer from Newcastle and they have been in the driving seat for the past couple of days, but there is also another Premier League club from London who have made an offer of around £30m for him.

"It's then up to Carlos where he wants to go. If you try to work out who this club in London is, my information is that it's not West Ham.

"David Ornstein at The Athletic says it's not Arsenal, so that really leaves Chelsea and Tottenham.  I'm not in a position to say which club it is, but I know that Spurs have a long interest in the player."

My best guess is Spuds. Conte likes Carlos.

No way the club are that daft. Injury prone. Inconsistent. Poor attitude.

Only player that should be coming in this window is Dest.

would love to see is grab Borna Sosa of Stuttgart as well, for LWB

1.87m, 24yo (in 3 and half hours), wand of a left foot

19 assists and 3 goals in last 4500 minutes of play for a shit club and a good national side (Croatia)

he is like a more pacey Alonso, great change-up from Chilwell (when he returns next season)

We haven’t even actually been linked with Dembele by a reliable outlet anyways so all this talk is pointless. He’ll go to whoever present Barca with the highest offer and I can’t see that being us. He’s more likely to go to someone like Newcastle or a club like that who want to make a splash. They need to show prospective targets that they can attract big names. West Ham would be another.

We should wait until the summer and target Raphinha from Leeds if we want a new wide attacker.

I’d love Martinelli tbh

Tammy on 15 goals now

5 in last 6 league games

lol

This and our issues with Lukaku only continues to highlight in my opinion how poor the Italian league is.

It's the same reason why I'd be hugely cautious about players like Vlahovic.

tbf 6 have come in the incompetence league. You can hardly count that.

But yeah, i predicted he would do well there bc of his athleticism. I guess you could send michael antonio or broja there and they would easily score 20+

serie a used to be good defensively but it is telling how well even slow grandpas like giroud, dzeko and zlatan are doing.

Growing up in the early to mid 90's it was THE league.

I used to watch Italian football I think it was on channel 4 on Saturday's and Sunday's and used to buy the magazine too. It was just brimming with quality players and teams so deep into the league.

Look at the players Chelsea bought during that time from Italy - Gullit, Zola, Di Matteo, Vialli, Desailly. Some of those were in their 30's and considered in decline and not good enough anymore over there but came over here and did phenomenal. How the tables have turned like you said with the likes of Giroud, Dzeko, Zlatan, etc still performing well in Italy but I think would for the most part struggle now over here with the pace and intensity.

Think it was like a goals show from the previous week on a Saturday morning and then a live game on a Sunday afternoon but I could be wrong it was a bloody long time ago!

Meh I'd rather get Maatsen back.

Maatsen might be something, we know what we will get with Emerson and it will end up with Alonso being number 1 until the season end.

The only thing I'd be concerned with bringing Maatsen back is how keen is Tuchel on him. Tuchel has at least talked up Emerson as someone he trusts could slot back in and "do a job".

Emerson is never going to be the long term answer, but at least if he was brought back for the rest of the season I think Tuchel will use him and rotate Alonso with him.

I think we have to accept that we'll struggle getting anything in January that upgrades on Alonso but we do really need an alternative there that Tuchel can use regularly if needed. I know CHO and Pulisic have played there now and again and Sarr could play at full back in a 4, but we do really need another proper wing back option on both sides.

Alonso isn't great, but a run down Alonso playing game after game for the rest of the season is going to be horrendous.

No thanks.

His move to Madrid is proof that the grass isn’t always greener and ultimately, he is finished IMO.

Honestly think for the fee he cost and wages he’s on, he will struggle to get a top club move. I mean Coutinho is a reference for this sort of thing also although he somehow got a move to Bayern for 6 months and eventually only got out of Barca to go to Villa with a chance of a permanent move.

I'm sorry how anyone has come to the conclusion Hazard is a good idea is mindblowing.

Our forwards for all their flaws are more useful than 2022 Hazard, yes even Lukaku.

I've stated previously that if I had had Roman's money I would absolutely have tried to buy Chelsea and, if successful, would now be making all of the transfer decisions myself. Certainly I'd give the manager every opportunity to sell me on his preferred targets but, in the end, I would watch the player myself and decide myself. When it comes to the potential return of Eden Hazard however I would probably have to recuse myself. I'm too emotionally attached.

Would keep an eye on Raheem Sterling's situation in City. Has 18 months on his deal and doesn't look like renewing

Only thing is with a player like Sterling, he gets a lot of goals for City but they constantly create a lot of opportunities each match. His timing and the amount of times he arrives in and around the 6 yard box in goalscoring positions from the wing is exceptional though. I don’t think it would be the same here, and whilst he has shown he can be a very creative player I don’t think we would be that interested due to the wages he’s on.

It is a bit odd with his situation though, I mean hes been there since 2015, meaning that other than Fernandinho he, alongside KDB, is the longest serving member in their current squad. He seems to be in and out a lot in the last 18 months or so under Pep which is confusing for someone of his ability.
