If we had been hearing rumblings for weeks that we were in contact via back channels or something I’d still think there is a chance for Haaland. Like with Havertz last summer we heard simmering for weeks and weeks. Haaland has said himself that he hadn’t even been in contact much with his agent. That combined with multiple people like Romano and Fjortoft saying there’s been zero contact between us and BVB makes me think this is just a no-go.

Too late in the window and surely too big of a transaction to just rush through. If we had attacked the situation shortly after the window opened and given BVB the entire summer to identify and sign replacements we perhaps could’ve done a deal. Doesn’t seem realistic to complete a 150m+ deal in a couple of days.

But Kounde has a release clause of €80m.

Just like Ruben Dias had 100m release clause. Plus when you add player RC is irrelevant. And we are negotiating with Sevilla which we would not do if we just plan to pay RC.

And we have this report...

I honestly believe we have spoken to them about what they want and the financial package that is needed to fetch him here. I think we touched base with them weeks ago and it's all about us raising cash, speaking with his agent and proving to BVB we can actually afford this.

I also think Romano and Jan Aarge no fuck all, just bits and pieces.

The release clause is still the fixed price. Dias had a release clause of £80 million but City got him for only £64.3 million because they included Otamendi in the deal and he was deemed to be worth £13.7 million.

Am sure we're trying to do the same with Kounde here by possibly adding Zouma in and I don't think he's worth as much as you have made him out to be, especially when there have been reports going around that we're trying to sell Zouma for only around €30 million.

There was already a rumour about Sanchez + 30 mil for Kounde from Tottenham, Zouma is at least just as good if not better so Zouma +25-30 doesn't seem that farfetched.

Don't think who's better is the point here. As I mentioned above, there have been reports going around that we're trying to sell Zouma for only around €30 million and assuming that's the case, not sure how we can raise his value to Sevilla, particularly when we're trying to ship him out. And a small side note, Zouma has only 2 years left on his contract compared to Sanchez's 3 at Spurs.

I dont take seriously release clauses in Spain. Asensio and Isco have it on 700m. Real would be thrilled if someone give them 50m. Griezmann even more...

I also dont argue about Zouma price. Like Italian journalist said above Sevilla want 50-60m euros max for Kounde. So Zouma and 20-30m.

They are real and have their uses.

Never like the idea of player+cash deals, especially when I believe Zouma is a very valuable asset to the squad. I would rather we pay the clause for Zouma than buy another player and give Zouma away for free as part of the deal. Kounde is very good but PL is a whole different ball game. What is there to suggest Kounde is worth Zouma leaving on a free and paying a sum for Kounde. Zouma is average on the ball but dominant in the air and provides a genuine attacking threat from set-pieces which is always a bonus if we have likes of Ziyech and Mount whipping the balls in. I trust the board if they have identified Kounde. Just don't like the idea of Zouma going as part of the deal.

Don't disagree with that notion but TBF, that's only good if Zouma is gonna play week in week out but he isn't.

If they want €50m (I am presuming it is Euros) then that should be something like Zouma plus €10-15m. If that happens I am ok with it, although it may make me re-evaluate the need for a expensive CM4 as we will need more height in the side.

However, I am still of the opinion a CM should be a Goeretzka/SMS rather than a Rice/the Monaco kid whose name I've still not learned to write/Camavinga.

For sure a CM with some height and attacking ability is vital now.

Huh? That tweet says Sevilla want around 50 million plus a player.
