He's worked with Tuchel previously at Dortmund.

I like Isak, I think he has a lot of potential and plenty of scope for development.

However the talk of around £70m just makes him far too much of a risk, as he hasn't done enough to justify such a fee and he hasn't yet shown he can be a prolific goal scorer. If we were talking £30 - 40m, I wouldn't mind him as an alternative to Haaland because we'd potentially be able to sell Tammy to help fund him and I don't think he'd then inhibit us buying another striker next summer if we needed/decided. But the price being quoted is just far too high to take that chance, and I think would then make it difficult for us to go back into the market next summer for a Haaland.

If we're talking that level of money it needs to be a more proven commodity.

Dortmund had a €30m (£25.5m) buyback that kicked in this month, BUT now I am seeing articles saying Real Sociedad have 'gotten rid' of that, but no explanation as to how they did so. I have never really heard of this before, and the only way I can see it is IF Dortmund accepted a big cash buyout to make the buyback null and void.

Borussia Dortmund no longer have a buy-back option on Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.

The Swedish star has been a revelation in La Liga, scoring 17 times and attracting interest from around Europe.

Dortmund allowed Isak to leave for Sociedad in 2019 but included a clause that allowed them to buy the striker back for £25m.

The Spanish side have managed to rid of that buy-back option however meaning they can now name their price.

Isak continues to impress at Euro 2020 and put in a man of the match display against Slovakia recently.

Chelsea are among those keen on the 21-year-old with Thomas Tuchel knowing the striker from his time at Dortmund.

Sociedad are adamant he will not be sold for less than his £60m buyout clause but the Blues are looking to add a striker this summer.

Dortmund's handling of Isak was a cause of tension between Tuchel and the Bundesliga club as he wasn't informed of his return in January 2017.

The German spoke highly of the striker even then, saying: "Alex is a very strong striker, who can play with his back toward goal and is strong in the combination. He scores a lot of goals, so it is great to have him here.

"The signing of Isak makes perfect sense. This gives the club a long-term solution for the position of striker. Isak is a very talented player.

Inter Milan outline new condition for Chelsea to complete Achraf Hakimi transfer

Chelsea continue to be strongly linked with a move for Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi.

Competing with Paris Saint-Germain for his signature, the Blues have reportedly plotted a swap deal involving current defender Marcos Alonso.

The Spaniard appears unlikely to have a future at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer, with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel preferring England international Ben Chilwell.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Alonso has reportedly been approved by Inter’s newly appointed boss Simone Inzaghi.

However, there is a potential problem in Marina Granovskaia’s plan in that Inter’s current wing-back option Ivan Perisic must be sold in order for the Serie A champions to accept any deal involving Alonso.

According to FCinternews, a sale of the Croatian international this summer is “essential” should the swap deal be accepted.

A finalist of the World Cup in 2018, the 32-year-old is out of contract next summer and is apparently being eyed by Bundesliga clubs which could potentially make a sale a little easier.

Settling for a much lesser player after missing out on our top target is dumb. If not Haaland just invest heavily in other areas of the team and pray we make top 4 or win the CL again and can try for him next year.

If we buy Isak for big money and he sucks we’re stuck with him and one of our rivals could sign Haaland.

Plus, the 18yo (19yo in 3 days) Nuno Mendes, who I can so see becoming a monster and easily reaching that level, although he is nowhere nearly as large (1.76m so they say) as 4 listed above, all of whom are over 6 feet tall, although he has tremendous leaping skills, he is extremely athletic. 

Alfonso Pedraza is sorta getting there as well and is 1.84m, so has good size as well, but I am NOT convinced he si Chels quality

Isak looks to me like the sort of signing Arsenal would make. A good talent that has the potential to become a great buy but is also a risk. Comes across as a player that mid level clubs pursue because they aren’t attractive enough to lure the very best.

Do I think he’d be decent for us? Probably. But is he the sort of striker who can take us up to City’s level in the league? Nope.

If we’re dead set on getting a striker this summer no matter what and fail with Haaland, I think the only “let’s take a punt on this guy” forward I’d be reasonably happy with is Vlahovic. Got all the tools to become world class and is so young that even if he starts slowly can get better and better with great coaching. Less risky for me than Isak.

He's pretty good technically. Great dribbler and link up play. 

When you look at our current attacking players metrics in build up, they are all heavily involved. When you compare it to Isak and Haaland, the former looks like he would better suit us. But that is the question. Are we so poor at finishing because we have too many players involved in the build up and no one being the clinical focal point? If that is the case Haaland is the answer.

Yeah thanks, that's pretty much what i figured. Feels like he would definitely be a really good option for us to have, but not the big money solution to our problems, that we should be looking for.
