Vesper 30,179
Michy Batshuayi 'will not leave Chelsea in January' By Matt Law, European Football Editor https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/transfer-talk/news/michy-batshuayi-will-not-leave-chelsea-in-january_384250.html Belgium international Michy Batshuayi will reportedly be remaining with Chelsea until at least the end of the 2019-20 campaign. The 26-year-old has scored seven times in 19 appearances for the Blues during the current season but has struggled to earn starts under new head coach Frank Lampard. The striker has actually not made the starting XI for a single Premier League match this term, with each of his 12 outings in England's top tier coming from the bench. According to football.london, despite finding it difficult to force his way into Lampard's selection, Batshuayi will not look to leave Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window. The report claims that the Belgian will instead stay for the remainder of the season before considering his options during next summer's transfer window. Batshuayi could be forced further down the pecking order next month, though, with Chelsea, having had their transfer ban overturned, expected to enter the market for a new striker. snip
Vesper 30,179
Ben Chilwell 'will not join Chelsea in January' By Matt Law, European Football Editor https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/transfer-talk/news/ben-chilwell-will-not-join-chelsea-in-january_384249.html Chelsea will reportedly be unable to sign Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell during the January transfer window despite identifying the England international as a leading target. The Blues, having had their FIFA-imposed transfer ban overturned on appeal, have allegedly identified Chilwell as the perfect player to fill their left-back spot moving forward. Frank Lampard's side were reportedly hopeful of securing a deal at the start of 2020, but according to football.london, their hopes of a January swoop are 'infinitesimal'. Neither Marcos Alonso nor Emerson Palmieri have convinced on the left side of defence during the 2019-20 campaign, and both players have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge. Chilwell - tipped to be England's left-back at Euro 2020 - has contributed one goal and three assists in 17 appearances for Leicester during the 2019-20 campaign. snip
Superblue 6,372
I'm not really fussed who we buy at this stage I just hope we don't panic buy with a view to the short term and trying to get top 4 this season. I think the idea of being unable to attract players without Champions League football is a bit of a myth in all honesty. It perhaps applies to the very top tier of players but in the market below this which is where we would likely be shopping, I don't think it holds up nearly as much. But we are now paying the price for this short term outlook, with both players and coaches, for years putting a band-aid on the squad. It's fully justified with the trophies we have won through those times but it still doesn't change the suffering we have now. There are some big deficiencies within the squad at present, but I think it's easy to forget a lot of the positives earlier in the season with the younger members of the squad and the attacking swagger we had. A plan does seem to be trying to be implemented but we are very much in its infancy and everything needs time and patience. Ironically I was reading an article on Chelsea's academy recently and it discussed when Abramovich first came into the club the long term plans which were put into place with regards to youth recruitment, development, coaching, etc. It took a fair few years before that machine started to produce the goods at youth level and is only now that the first team is benefiting too. But a plan was laid out and stuck too. We need something similar at first team level. I believe that something is trying to be implemented with a much longer term view, but I just hope that the board and club don't make knee-jerk reactions like they have done historically which may get a reaction for this season but leaves us right back at square one again for next. If the right players are available in January then go and get them and hopefully they can contribute in both the short term and longer term. However if they're not, I'd rather we don't settle for lower and lesser targets on our list, and instead get through this season and bring the right players in the summer. Nikarlc 5
I think we should go for Theo Hernandez,he helps his team attack from the left wing and scores much more than the attackers at AC MILAN.Lampard said he wants goalscoring players, then why don't him sign a goalscoring defender like Hernandez? Nikarlc 5
we should look for other LBs.I liked Ben Chilwell before i watched his performance against man city,he was struggling to defend against Mahrez.I think we should get Ake,bcoz he can play also as a LB.We can have him as a LB for about 2 years until Maatsen developes,or we can buy Chilwell(for about 75mil) and watch Mahrez making him suffer

Don't waste your time thinking about 4th place. I would start by hiring a coach for next summer. A coach! And for the future. For a serious project. Ten Hag or Nagelsmann would be my bets. And serious investment would be made for this project. This year be pragmatic. Let's not dream about what is not possible I fear the worst. That none of this will be done. You will burn all the money stupidly. Lampard will be out late and badly. We will eventually knock on Marco Si I'm curious with your reasoning. If I choose to be 'pragmatic' why would top 4 not be a possibility? We are one match away from being halfway through the season, and regardless of the result we would be at least be level on points with 4th place at least. This is despite us starting the first half of the season with several players injured, and no transfer window. If I was pragmatic, I would assume the second half to yield even better results. You can play negative Nancy, as you are entitled to your opinion, but I'm not sure why you want others to adopt that view. The versatility aspect is a blessing, and is part of the reason why I would want us to retain Azpi after this season as a squad player (capable of playing across the defence, back 4, back 5, etc). If he were to come in and due to circumstances, play left back and be a revelation then great as it solves a problem position. However his left back appearances throughout his career are somewhat limited and therefore I think a left back berth would at best be in a backup capacity. Chilwell even in the summer I think would be incredibly difficult to prise away from Leicester I feel. And to be honest for the numbers being talked about, I'm really unsure he's worth it. Alex Telles I think is the most interesting option given price, level of experience, stats (particularly offensively), etc. Two things though that do concern me a little regarding him is (1) difficult to assess just how good he is playing in a pretty poor league and (2) given his relatively low release clause, I'm surprised no one else seems to have been in for him. Is that perhaps saying something? Vesper and Muzchap

ZAPHOD2319 4,818
Right now I would be happy with Werner and two defensive players better than what we have. I don't look at Werner to challange Tammy, but we cant expect Tammy to play every PL, FA, and CL game. I would like to see the Sancho deal, but Dortmund is expecting stupid money.
