Todd Boehly Thread

League have refused Boehly a lucrative shirt sponsorship deal with Paramount as 'it would upset other broadcasters'

Just thinking if it was the Sheiks at Citeh, the league would have said, ''yup that's fine, and thanks for the brown envelopes.''

All this over Mendy kk and Hakim? Kante went on a free 🤣🤣

To be honest, there are a few reasons to be concerned. I mean, imagine if they start doing this with Newcastle and pay 50m for someone like Jonjo Shelvey just to make their books look great. Objectively speaking, if there's something sticky going on behind the scenes, it is worrying.

However, just like with the previous loophole, it's funny how we are the first ones doing it. UEFA will probably change some rules because of it, but our deals will already be done and dusted.

How naive one have to be to think Saudis are "saving us" by (supposedly) buying our unwanted players? Knowing British government attitude towards Chelsea, not to mention the FA and co, it's a money laundering investigation, with threats of all those deductions and exclusions from cups (that we had not qualified for, lol) hanging in the air. Of course, they will keep their eyes and ears shut closely towards fact of mere existence of entities like City at the same time.

Last year Boehly was ruining club football with his loophole for signing long contracts that allowed a huge spend. This year Boehly is ruining club football with his Saudi connections.

How will he ruin it next summer?

Tbf there were several people on here where saying City’s treble was tainted due to financial breaches and whatnot a few weeks ago and are now in absolute shock that other fan bases have the audacity to accuse us of having dodgy Saudi links because of PIF and Clearlake, although I’m pretty sure it was common knowledge prior to the takeover…..

Have to be careful of how these dealings go, I do get the feeling that perhaps down the line this connection could be one that is further investigated by some of the footballing authorities. Not sure what they find but ultimately, think folk should focus on what happens on the pitch a bit more than off it, particularly in regards to these links for us and City last season. Or Newcastle. Or Man United.

A amidst all of this FFP controversy, its seems we didn't breach anything. Sold enough players to even get above breaking even for the 2019-2022 years. (United and Barcelona have been fined for breaching.)

To add insult to injury to those wishing for our demise, UEFA has gone and praised the club and that we should be the example for other clubs to aspire to.
