True there aren't many left but surely we can find someone. Utd and Tottenham have proper wingers and that adds a dimension to their gamer we usually sorely lack especially against tight defenses.

We've already signed a natural winger in the form of Marin (let's hope he can prove to be world-class) surely we can find another.

Yea but even some German fans have suggested Marin is another who likes to play centrally.

Though I do accept the point about United. Nani, Valencia and Young seem happier on the wings. There's a sharp decline of natural wingers. As BBC said on the Russian-Pole half-time analysis, "more wingers are not reverting to inside wingers while full backs are a lot more attack minded"

I think Marin prefers to play out wide, since he played his best football there. His career has basically stagnated since he moved to SS role.

Natural wingers are declining and less needed, main reason is because full backs are asked to create width for their team. So you see a lot more attacking full backs and are a lot more demanded then defensive minded fullbacks like Ivanovic. Natural wingers are not priority because your fullback can provide the same width and crosses. So you see Di Maria and Robben once known for being a natural wingers, now are inverted wingers, also SS/CAM are more used out wide. It is a very interesting trend.

It is kinda funny most here on this forum want to see Chelsea sign a natural winger and RB who is defensive minded. Both with little demand in modern football.

On the contrary mate. From what I know from watching Bremen is that Marin likes to play out wide but was forced by the manager to play behind the striker. He is no were near as good in central areas; I'd be very surprised if he plays centrally here at Chelsea.

Impressed with him so far -though could be like Smertin or Arse Shavin -excellent for country, pony at club level.

No, I've heard reports that he is very good for CSKA. He doesn't score as many goals, but they all come in a similar fashion (late arrivals into the box, long shots etc.).

All of his National team goals have been scored in the Euro qualifiers and the tournament itself.

Could possibly be a replacement for the fat fucker, but Smertin was the dogs bollox for the Russian national team as well

Dont know if youve ever been to the Bridge, but the short patience of the booooooers should put him in his place
