Just saw the match. He was absolute beast good in defence,  good in attack. Just why why we bought Chilwell instead of him. He's next big thing in World football. And only 25mil.

I saw the game too and in no way thought he was a beast in any aspect. Not to say that he was poor, but there were in my opinion few occasions on either end of the pitch were he did anything of note. A typical 7/10 performance as he worked hard, had enough positional awareness to not be a liability and caused no goal for the other team through any errors.

Didn't you hear, Reguilon is the new flavor of the month and he can do no wrong? He probably shits diamonds too.

Some people seem to have set their minds to the narrative that Chillwell is shit and Reguilon is the new Roberto Carlos so they focus on all the positive things Reguilon does and with Chillwell only look at the negatives.

I'm not saying Reguilon isn't good, possibly even a little better than Chillwell, but it's just funny that only a few months ago very few people would have taken Reguilon ahead of Chillwell but now everyone is jumping in on the bandwagon.

Neither Chillwell nor Reguilon are 'beasts' or world class players. They're both good left-backs with a lot of potential to improve further but neither is a finished product yet.

Exactly. Similar players both flavor of the month. the main difference is the price tag and to some extend it is annoying Chilwell is injured.
those 50m will be a massive chip on Chilwells shoulder while Regu would fly a bit under the Radar for the bargain he is. Would probably also command lower wages.
Chilwell has the Baba Rahman vibe and we know leftback does not solve itself by throwing money at it. So of we are to throw money let it be not that much so it crippled our room for planing the future.

Couldn’t say it better myself. From pretty much unknown two weeks ago and now apparently according to some “experts” he is the third best LB just behind Davies and Robertson [emoji1787] And the best part is Madrid is selling him for a bag of peanuts, what a fantasy world.

What people dont get? The issue with Chiwell was never that he isnt good or that Reguilon is suddenly better etc.

The issue with Chilwell is his price. He is never ever 50-70m player because then he would not only have to improve but improve to be best fullback in the world. And thats unlikely. Not to mention, money saved from Chilwell fee could be used for CB or GK.

There are several alternatives like Telles, Tagliafico or Reguilon. Each would cost around 30m.

Even in the crazy crazy world of football and money, only Mendy and the other Mendy cost 40m+ when it comes to fullbacks.

Now its corona time when every player is a bit cheaper. We will have to sell Emerson, Bats, Baka, Kepa, Alonso, Jorginho etc for even less than usual because corona.

And then comes Leicester demanding 50m for Chilwell in todays climate.

Bottom line, Chilwell is good, maybe even very good LB. Maybe better than Reguilon or Tagliafico. Maybe. But he isnt worth 50m upwards. If he was actualy super talented ala Davies or if he was the only option, but there are alternatives.

And thats what bothers many people. Because you can get Tagliafico and realy good GK. Or just Chilwell. And what if he flops? Who will pay that for him? Just another player ala Bakayoko we cant get rid off. Reguilon or Tagliafico is easly reselable because they excelled in european football too.

Marina did some great work, but lets not forget 40m Drinkwater, 40m Bakayoko, 40m Batshuayi, 70m Kepa, 70m Morata, 25m Zappacosta etc...

Chilwell could be out for 6 weeks more and without any pre-season.

That would mean alonso will start the first 6-7 games at least. People still think Alonso should be our no.2??? Lol

Need to buy reguilon and have good cover. Otherwise more of the same this season.

This guy reporting that we are still in race for Reguilon.:dunno:

If we can offload both Emerson and Alonso why not. After this season we will need another RB anyways with Cesar probably leaving, maybe Sergio can cover both flanks.

Another great performance. We did not follow him this season but since first rumors came out he has been one of the best players in every match he played for Sevilla or Spain today.

Not happy he is going to UTD most likely.
