Even more so considering the 2 barren spells and the huge volume of sitters he missed that I think we’d all probably fancy ourselves at scoring…. I remember the shit Morata got in the second half of his first year and it is odd the difference now for Timo but lets see how it goes this season. The excuses will only last so long, if he doesn’t do it this season regularly instead of in fits and bursts every couple of months nobody can say anything. Even this “so he can run at people thing playing off a CF”, he played on the left hand side when Tammy was in the team with Frank and basically was as good as another RB for the opposition because he did nothing. This is why we needed a top CF, because he couldn’t be counted on to put the big chances away like others also. Well, I can only speak for myself but I consider to team play significantly better football (and in my opinion get better results) when Werner plays. Last season, even if he didn't score a lot himself, he still created a lot of goals by running at defenders and passing in the box for someone else to score an easy tap-in. If I didn't know about Werner's prolific goalscoring record in the Bundesliga and only saw him for what he produced last season I'd have been reasonably happy with the output (close to 30 G+A overall). But knowing he's previously shown what it takes to score +30 goals a season he's been a slightly frustrating figure to watch. Be interesting to see whether Tuchel now figures out a way to get Werner firing when playing together with Lukaku, or if the arrival of Romelu will drop him to the bench and he has to play the role of an impact sub. Honestly, I would still be frustrated with him. The chances he missed vs Leeds, West Ham, Real to name a few are so ridiculously guilt edged that anyone should be expected to score these. Apart from Torres and Morata, no other striker at this club has missed this many 100% chances in sucha short timeframe. You got a point about the football tho. He is our only player who makes long deeps runs off the ball and dregs defenders away at maximum pace. His off the ball movement is what enables a lot of our attacks. Just look at the last 2 goals we scored. both time he makes the run to the left, the defender follows and everything opens up.

He mentioned it just the other day when asked about Lukaku. And okay, Havertz isn't a #9 but the few times they played together upfront late last season was promising. don't know why he's so happy. He will play a lot less next season (same for Pulisic). Many times the attack will be Mount, Lukaku, and Kai

Despite all the memes and banter I've fully stood by Werner and value his contribution a lot even though so far he's been shite at scoring goals, but that doesn't change the fact that as a leading striker he's not been anywhere near good enough. He's at his best when he plays alongside another striker so he can make use of his best asset and run at defenders, but if he's played up front by himself he gets marked out of the game by the oppositions big strong CBs. I could see Werner benefiting a lot from Lukaku's arrival. In Tuchel's 3-4-3 there are no wingers btw. Yes you did hence why im defending him. You chat alot of crap dude hahahaha You said hes a number 9 in all Deary me Youre going on my ignore list!

Many times the attack will be Mount, Lukaku, and Kai While I do think his minutes will be lower than last season (he was second on the outfield player list), we don't know for sure what Tuchel has said to the others, do we? Given we have so many games this season and if we want to go far in every competition, rotation is gonna be key. There's really no need to be running players into the ground (e.g. Mount). Plus, Tuchel is known to rotate here and there to suit the opposition, match etc. Given how important Werner has been to Tuchel in the way we play, doubt he's just gonna toss him aside even if we've gotten Lukaku. He's versatile enough to play in different positions that Tuchel should be able to mix and match accordingly. Tuchel has also said he doesn't want to close the doors on the players that are already in the squad because he believes they can/will improve this season. robsblubot

I do usually trust your opinions mana, Just a little hesitant to pile all me money on lukaku I think Timo will have more success this year because we will have lukaku, same for our front pack as he will draw the CB's and open up spaces for the lads out wide. Because Lukaku will channel his inner mojo and Werner will end up scoring 100+ goals this season. 🙃 In all seriousness, has anyone actually said what you said? Think we can all agree that having Lukaku in the side means he's the main goalscorer now and it will take the pressure off the others. However, it doesn't mean the others shouldn't be scoring and it's down to Werner and the rest to produce at least a decent conversion rate this time around.
