We are nearing the end of the season, wondering who can be the player of the year?  This season - just like last year when Kova won - it’s quite hard to highlight one player, like when Hazard or Mata had outstanding seasons.

Whom I can think of:

Mendy - many records, clean sheets, big inpact even though small money signing and not well known player internationally

Azpilicueta - regular and good performer against Lampard, then under new manager - as each time in the last 9 years - first name in the lineup in different position again, gotta love him.

Mount - had good introduce season but this year he clearly stepped up, becoming a leader.

What is the standard for GK or defender to win POTY? What do they have to do? Silva apart from 2 games against WBA did not put foot wrong. Azpi also great, Mendy breaking records, most clean sheets in the league.

With Rudiger this season we conceded just 8 goals in 27 games he played. In other 23 we conceded 28! Apert from own goal also did not put foot wrong.

We have 2nd best defense in the league while 7th best attack. Mount is playing as one of the 3 most offensive players. Actually our defense is best in the league under Tuchel.

So for me those 4 players are our 4 best players this season.

Oooohhh....Liverpool near the end seems to be the in thing usually..

Narrator: Nope, it isn't. Not this time.

We go to Anfield in the third game of the season and then host Liverpool in early January.

That's a tough early season batch of fixtures but if we can get through that relatively unscathed we should find ourselves in a very good position.

In a way playing the other top teams early in the season I think could be better. We'll be in a position where players will be returning to pre season late after playing in the Euros/Copa America and therefore our start to the season could end up being a little sluggish, but the other big teams should be in similar positions. I trust the work that Tuchel has already done that even if we need time to hit top gear, we're solid and organised enough to grind some results out early on.

Arsenal pool away, city and Spurs in first 6 games of the season then just shit sides till November. Guess we will know if we can challenge for the title early on

Not sure how much can we really read into the early season fixtures because teams might still be feeling their way into the season etc. Once we get those first six games out of the way, we can build up ahead of steam with the "easier" run of games until January, similar to what we did in 2016/17. Getting a return of at least 12 points from the first six is probably not a terrible return.

That being said, if last season's results under Tuchel are anything to go by, it's those "easier" run of games after the first six games that are gonna be problematic.

Yeah that’s what I meant, our record in the easy games till November.

we can lay a foundation  jf we manage to get for more quickly and win those big early matches and then  pull away with the easier ones

also from January to end of the season our trip to OT on the penultimate day is our last hard one so the festive period will be crucial. Obviously some games will be rescheduled bc of club World Cup and we will lose or draw one or two after our return due to jet lag.
