He will be a great upgrade over Moses for sure, smarter in the final third and a natural defender. Statistically Moses is just as good/better defensively. Some have said that Zappa isn't a strong defender either. Sure, he might have a better mindset in the final third but he doesn't have 1v1 dribbling ability to open up much space in the final third. I actually don't think he's better than Moses or ever will be in anything bar crossing and maybe smarts in the final third (which is easy to be better at let's be honest). Still remains to be seen how well he adapts though. I'm not that impressed as it stands. Never really stood out to me for Torino either. I think we'll be looking to upgrade RWB yet again in the near future. Blue-in-me-Veins and Amblève.

He's more similar to Alonso than he is to Moses and I'm not sure if that's a good thing because in some situations, you're gonna need your WBs to beat their man going forward in 1 v 1 to create chances and I'm not sure if Zappacosta is capable of that. He isn't at all. Think his take ons completed were something like 0.6 pg last season.

Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
From the very little we've seen of him, I hope his very attack minded tendencies don't get coached out of him. We desperately need a WB who will provide constant attacking pressure, and pin the opposing FB, and Zappacosta looks like he can be that man. Cesc/Drinkwater should have field days pinging long balls to him.  Supermonkey92
whats happening 1,615
does anyone else feel like he's not really part of this team? he looks so out of place sometimes and clueless sometimes.. Leif
Magic Lamps 11,692
The Ramires of wingbacks. Skinny, fast and clueless on the ball.

Beigl 1,387
He is fast and has decent qualities on the ball, but other than that from what he has shown so far he lacks football IQ big time. Leif
Jase 43,479
And people thought he would be better than Moses. He's decent but isn't a starting XI material for us. OhForAGreavsie

Georgy 439
You sell some shit (Mikel, Oscar and Ramires) and you buy some shit (Zappa, Baka, Drinker) rise and repeat and people wonder why we will never dominate for at least 2 years in a row. OneMoSalah 8,886
If he learned how to stay onside he’d be a decent option for us, don’t know how many times he was offside (while in good positions) when he really shouldn’t have been. Was quite happy with his performance actually, solid enough, got stuck in, not got Moses pace though, Moses really gets us up the pitch, think for a squad player he’s a good option. Problem is, he gets himself into good positions but after that, he just suffers brainfarts. There were talks about him capable of delivering good crosses but we haven't seen any so far. It's utterly ridiculous that we play a back 3 system with braindead wing backs. Zappacosta/Alonso/Moses all lack the key qualities to really maximize the position and in this system.
