Vertical means fuck all when defending a corner or cross. the ball swerves, players move around and the defender only has time for a little hop. If the attacker is this much taller he can just stand there and nick it In if the cross is good. You need optimal preparation and run up to exploit your full vert like in a dunk. No chance of this in game for defenders cos they are always the ones to react

Vertical leap is what all the Kounde fanbois talk about.

I thinks it is bollocks.

He is replaceable, and he is making a big mistake from a footballing standpoint if signs somewhere else. If he wants to make a decision based on financial than he is better going.

As long as we have Mendy in goal, our superb midfield, and Tuchel defense we will be fine. And if we don’t have Tuchel, then there is no point of wanting Rudigar at Chelsea anyway.

I noticed lately that he improved a lot his offensive play. Very often he is in the final 3rd and looks dangerous. After these situations he won pen against Malmo, assisted disallowed goal against Southampton to Lukaku...

And this also proves it...

2 sides to a coin

1: surely Chelsea can entice him to stay while not bending the knee.....figure it out.

2: WTF is Rudi doing, you are at an elite club, your repu never ever as high as now, the fans love you, the manager loves and counts on you and you can win trophies.

Shambolic if you ask me.....if you wanna go then pack it already but remember Eden Rudi my man. The grass is rarely greener on the other side once you leave Chels.

Alaba, Rudiger, Pogba and Mbappe all for free. Haaland just 75m euros. Camavinga was also cheap. They have buy back on Reguilon. And I see them linked to with Pau Torres. So potentially 8 top, top players for peanuts.

In terms of transfer fees, but they will want excessive signing-on fees, not to mention big wages (Alaba is earning £400k+).

£300k pw for 5 years is £78m which is insane. However, what will it cost to replace him? £50m? Then what do you have to give the guy that you replace him with? Probably a minimum £100k a week which is £26m for five years. So, in total it washes itself out.

Obviously, the problem is that you set the bar so high for wages. Personally, I think this sort of thing is going to become more common in that players will wind down their contract and ask for the money the clubs would have to fork out for them.

As for this particular situation, I think we'll just have to let him go. AC is the more important player to tie down and Rudi will be unsellable/a sunk cost once he gets his contract owing to his age. Additionally, as great as he has been there is an argument that he is thriving because of the system (same could be applied to AC as well tbf) and we may be better off with a left footed CB for the LCB position.

Will be a shame if we lose him but it is what it is.

Matt Law is convinced he’s going. There has been virtually zero progress according to him. Rudiger wants 300Kpw

His personal opinion and personally, wouldn't 100% trust Matt Law with Rudiger stories.

He was the one who circulated news about Rudiger getting Lampard the sack and getting into conflict with the younger players (which CHO and Tammy dismissed)

Chalobah signing a 5 year deal and us being linked/prepared to bid for that Hungarian LCB is giving the club more leverage. I think Law may be right here.

Law stated January is a big time for both the player and the club. Rudiger will be able to speak to other clubs and will get a better understanding, because at the moment he and his agent believe they can get 300Kpw elsewhere.

Don't believe for a second that him and his agent haven't already been sounding out interest from other clubs and listened to their offers. January only means he can officially sign a pre-contract to join in the summer but it's naive to think negotiations haven't already taken place even if they're not allowed to do it officially yet.

At the moment I don't think there's much hope of Rüdiger staying unless Marina & co improve their offer to match what Toni wants. If the club does offer him a big contract, I can't see why he wouldn't sign it. Under Tuchel he's playing the best football of his whole career and is playing in a team challenging for all trophies out there, and he might not be able to keep up the same level of performance at another club under new management so as far as the actual football is concerned it doesn't make much sense for him to move now, but I definitely understand the reasoning that he wants a huge pay day because his next contract will be the most important one of his career and I won't blame if he wants to make the most of it.

But I'm not worried in the slightest. It was Tuchel who made Rüdiger perform at a world class level he never reached before so I don't see why he couldn't do that with whoever the club get to replace Toni as well.

But what would it mean for this season though?

Would you keep a player who's on his way ou5 and feeling undervalued by the club, in the starting 11? I wouldn't.

How would that affect the dressing room?

Not too concerned in the long term, but this could really deflate a potentially exciting season for us.
