I'm very surprised at the level of pessimism floating around this thread. I really don't think Liverpool are going to play like they have against us. I excpect our best performance from the season so far. That will need Hazard to pick his head up though because he was atrocious against Swansea. I really think we should play with Costa and Bats up top. It would give Liverpools defence soo many problems. Theor defence is as weak as ours.

The pessimism is only because of the nature of how things panned out yesterday. The performance was good barring one silly moment for their penalty and complete farce from the ref. I'm really confident ahead of the Liverpool game, home advantage and Costa alone will worry them, not only that but I actually think we are playing really well.

Wait, now people here are calling for Cesc to start? :D

Liverpool are probably the last type of side you want to see Fabregas against. A side with loads of energy, athleticism, and who press relentlessly. Basically his cryptonite.

Think we need Oscar in there again. Thought he was fine yesterday. Plenty of tackling, tracking back, and was also dangerous in the final third. We need as much steel against that lot as possible.

Home advantage..what's that these days :-P

Be nice if we didn't repeat last year and win a handful of home games..huge test this one..and the next..

Whenever i thing about Liverpool i remember our win 2-0 win in 2013/2014 we were so good in defence so maybe that's how i would like to have our line up set up and than kill them in counter attacks.

   -------------------Courtois-------------------

Ivanovic------Cahill------Luiz----------Azpilicueta

------------------Kante------Oscar------------------------

Moses---------------Hazard------------------Willian

-------------------------Costa------------------------------

Now your probably looking at this like "fuck 4-2-3-1" but tactically it could be really good now.I don't thing our defence is bad,Cahill has been really good so far and he can carry the ball just like Luiz so both are starting for me.Ivanovic has really improved since Conte came and with the help of Moses it's only gonna be easier for him in defence. Kante and Oscar are more than capable of protecting our back 4 but also help our attackers,Hazard is gonna cause chaos in the middle but he will also have to just a bit help Kante and Oscar. my only worry would be Willian to fuck up some of our counter attacks as he usually does but he will track back and help our defence so that's why he is starting. I'm not sure if Matic is any good in a pivot anymore so that's why he is not starting for me.

FFS now i sound like Mourinho.

Or 4-1-4-1/4-3-3 which is the line up we are probably gonna play and i don't have anything againts it.

fancy us to score a couple from set pieces in this one i.e. corners, free kicks where our CB's can exploit their poor defending.

Massive match for Kante plus 1 in the middle to protect our back line against their pace. If the defence can keep the low shots on target ratio going (7 in 4 games) then I think we will win by a couple of goals.

Since Terry is out injured i would like to see this lineup:

                        Tibo

Ivan          Cahill       Luiz         Azpi

                      Kante

      Matic / Mikel            Oscar

Moses / Willian                                    Hazard

                      Costa

or

                        Tibo

Azpi          Cahill       Luiz / Ivan         Alonso

                      Kante

        Matic / Mikel            Fab

Moses / Willian                        Hazard

                          Costa

What do you think?

Cesc in midfield against Liverpool's dynamic pressing?!

Ivan----Cahill----Luiz----Azpi

----------------Kante----------

Willian-----*Matic*-----Oscar----Hazard

-----------------Costa------

*Not a fan of Matic in this match simply because he's not mobile/quick enough to deal with Liverpool's athleticism/pace in mudfield.

But because i doubt Conte will drop him, Matic will be the key player if we are to have any chance of winning this match. 3 things Matic has to do extremely well for us to win this game, is to make many key tackles, positioning has to be spot on, and release the ball as fast as possible before liverpool's players swarm to press him. Pretty much revert back to Matic circa 2014. No big deal.

Am also not looking forward to Firminho vs Ivan... Nope, not at all.

I think we need to try Oscar and Fab with Kante as our midfield three at some point, I just don't think this is the fixture for it with JT out.

I'd like to see this:

                      Courtois

Ivanovic - Cahill - Luiz - Azpilicueta

                      Kante

         Fabregas   -    Matic

Moses                                Hazard

                     Costa

We will almost assuredly see this:

                     Courtois

Ivanovic - Cahill - Luiz - Azpilicueta

                      Kante

              Matic   -    Oscar

Willian                                Hazard

                     Costa

As always we win if Hazard decides he wants to show up. He is our focal point and I really like the idea of Milner having to deal with him all day. I want us to be direct which is why I think Moses is an excellent shout for this. He can give Clyne lots to think about and hopefully pin him back in a way that Willian can't.

Mane is obviously a threat but I have a feeling Kante will be his kryptonite. I was hoping this wouldn't be Luiz's debut only because of all the attention that will be directed at him, there's a good chance Liverpool will target him and try to put pressure on him to play mistake free.

Its gonna come down to who can be most clinical when the opportunities present themselves there will without question be goals in this. We need Hazard to be man of the match followed by Kante, if that happens we win for sure.
