Really? Unless suddenly Mourinho starts to play positive football, no one would want to play under him and just defend all the time.

He said yesterday he developed new football strategy :D can't wait to see it. Btw Spurs have won just 25 from possible 72 points in the last 24 PL matches. That's relegation zone result.

Oh, he's definitely on the offensive charm, saying all the "right" things in his presser...

As @milan.cech alluded to, when was the last time Mourinho spotted a young and upcoming player and then develop them into world class? Probably back in his first spell here, which is ages ago. A lot of his recent transfers haven't gone too well as well.

Really? Unless suddenly Mourinho starts to play positive football, no one would want to play under him and just defend all the time. Players reportedly didn't want to move to United previously because of his style of football. Mourinho is still a big name manager but his lure in these times are way lesser than it was 10-15 years ago. He will have to show he's a changed man for players to want to run through walls for him again.

The whole developing youth into world class thing, its a bit of a controversial subject. Are you mentioning this because Poch did this (well other than Kane who else has he done this for? Even at Southampton?) or because Frank is playing the kids here? Are we comparing Frank to Jose now too?

Without thinking of youth, he signed the likes of Varane and played him every week at Real Madrid when he was 18 for 2 seasons or so before he left. Also even then he signed guys like Ozil, Khedira, who yes all had very good world cups but hadnt done much in Germany and they undoubtedly improved under him. Angel Di Maria the same. Definitely improved Benzema. When he came back here again for his second spell, Cahill improved, Ramires improved, Azpi improved, Hazard improved... your not going to say he hasnt improved any players are you? Even at United. Maybe not all of them or a lot of them were world class under him but the improvement was clear to see. Even at Inter, older guys like Eto'o hit another level, so did Sneidjer, so did Militio and so did Ibrahimovich which is why he got that Barca move.

Also talking about the lure of playing for him, Lukaku turned down us for him and Sanchez turned down City and Pep for him. He convinced Pogba. He convinced Ibra to go to United aged 35. Yes his style isnt amazing but cmon, to say players wont want to play him for him still in thia day and age, is a bit ridiculous and sounds like a bit of bitterness in all honestly. Still dont get why Jose gets under our fans skin so much hes always been a grade A prick regardless of what team you support 😂

No, I'm just talking about Mourinho's overall track record in this case. I don't think Pochettino's record in this was all that great at Spurs, TBH, but that's another debate.

No one is saying that he can't improve established players here. That we all know he can do. It's more whether Mourinho can do so with young players and it's one thing to do with someone developed and bought from elsewhere and another straight from the club's own academy. Given Levy's track record, it's unlikely he'll get to sign many big name, established and that means, he'll have to rely on Spurs' academy, which he said he's apparently happy with. Can he really help improve young players and turn them into world beaters? History suggests no but only time will tell this time.

But apart from Ibrahimovic, what happened with Lukaku, Sanchez, Pogba under Mourinho? Turned out to be success stories, didn't they? :carlo:

People have seen what happened with him at Real Madrid, Chelsea and then Man United and things always went bad under him, despite some success. Would you really want to play for a manager who has had a strong a history of throwing players under the bus, moans about a lot of things, plays boring football, creates a negative atmosphere around the club in the last 5-6 years? Players certainly don't die to play for him like they used to do a decade ago.

Mourinho will probably get OK reception at Old Trafford or neutral at worst. If he don't receive something similar from our fans it's going to be pretty embarrassing since he did much more for us.

He sure did my man.....but he also abused our passion for him as soon as Conte was here. He brought it on himself imo. You are managing another epl team? Hey that cool, but make sure you dont diss your so called loved Chelsea cuz they are doing hella good.

Spurs record with youth the last 5 and a half years is hardly outstanding though so not sure why Levy buying youngsters is going to be a given. Other than Deli Alli, Juan Foyth, Eric Dier, Ryan Sessengon and Davinson Sanchez who all signed as 20 or under.. the rest have been guys like Eriksen, Son, Vertonghen, Alderwereild, Wanyama, Sissoko etc who were already more established players before going to Spurs, having played a lot of games prior to their moves since young ages.

Spurs academy cant be that fantastic either because other than Harry Winks, Walker Peters and Oliver Skipp the rest of their squad arent from the academy. Harry Winks is only the one guy out of those who plays regularly too. Not saying its a write off but you look at Pochettinos work at Southampton who had a good academy and compare it to the players he took through at Spurs...

Doesnt matter to me if those players were successful or not, you said nobody wanted or would want to play for him in this day and age when clearly players still will. Big players too like Pogba who was already in one of the top teams in Europe, Ibrahimovic who could have gone anywhere, Sanchez who could have gone anywhere.... Football players arent the same as they were 10 years ago I get that but the likes of Conte and Mourinho (both very similar approach) still get jobs and still have players wanting to play for them. Especially if they are competing for cups and leagues.

I don't know what exactly he said - didn't watch the presser - but he didn't rule out a return basically.

Can't see it happening under Marinas watch but if Cech ever got such decision making responsibility's it would worry me a bit.

Hey, I'm not the one who said I'm happy with the Spurs' academy and willing to work with the players.

Yeah, those players joined United but they didn't exactly 'play' for him, did they? They didn't buy into his ideas and am sure the attraction of playing for Manchester United is arguably bigger than it is playing for Mourinho. It's similar to how we managed to sign Hazard despite having Di Matteo in charge back in 2012 (no offence to the latter). IF Mourinho can attract big names to a lesser big club like Spurs, then your point is more legit here. Otherwise, why would you want to play for him - given his recent track record of trouble - when you can play for managers like Klopp, Guardiola etc?

He is a professional. He loves the club that is paying his money. Since he is a professional he will always leave the door open to any club that want to pay for his services.

But come one, the man was hired by Spurs days ago and you guys are already talking about a Mourinho return.

JM return? Aint gonna happen.......he will forever be part of our history but his legend-hood is shattered imo, thrown to the wind. Especially now that he is a stinking spurs manager, its done and dusted.
