Well I had been wondering how he could possibly have survived in a Bundesliga team if he really was as bad as he looked in early outings for us. He was very good last night and decent in his previous game but prior to that he was shocking.

He should have been playing for ages now - you cannot improve and learn without playing - training only gives half the story.

This infatuation with height is crazy - it's well proven that smaller players with a good leap can cope with tall players.

What we need is overlapping full backs, to bolster the attack, provide some natural width and give balance to our attacking shape.

I don't think the lad has been given a fair chance - especially with all of the other turmoil going on!

In time I believe he has the talent to be a top LB for us. He needs regular playing time and the full support from Jose when he makes mistakes. Building up confidence in young players is key to their development.
