Lack of English players in the squad

Sterling would quite clearly improve the team, he just wouldn't be worth the 200 zillion Liverpool would demand from us. Luke Shaw will come good soon too, it wasn't smart to sign a 29 year old only for the bench, Shaw could have gained a lot from being Azpi's understudy.

Ryan Bertrand is having ten times the season that Shaw is having. There are tens of LBs in the world that are better than Luke Shaw.

i would rather get a good non english HG midfielder like schneiderlin , than an average guy like shelvey or delph. (i dont think the likes of barkley/ox are attainable) .

the young guys can't play much right now, if we are trying to win the league.

That is the problem. However I do hope the likes of Chalobah, Baker and Lofty Cheek get a fair chance one season. I especially like Baker, what a player. In an ideal world those three would be our future midfield trio, but I'll celebrate if even one of them gets through.

Yup, I remember that day, Henry still playing for Arsenal and Wenger said something that his 3rd gk who is English was injured, if not he will play him.

No that was Arsenal.

I said starting XI.

First club to field an all-foreign starting XI: Chelsea (v Southampton), December 26, 1999.

The Guardia also reports this as true:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2009/may/11/manchester-united-foreign-team

It was Boxing Day 1999 that Gianluca Vialli became the first manager of an English club to select a side devoid of Englishmen," said the article below about a starting lineup for Manchester United. In fact, Vialli seems to have been pipped by Walter Galbraith, manager of Accrington Stanley – in April 1955. For a league match against York City, Galbraith fielded a team composed entirely of his fellow Scots.

Gianluca Vialla was the first manager to field a starting XI in the premier league with no Englishmen.

Hmm, just knowing that. I thought it was Arsenal at first, because of all the fussed from media after they did that.

It does n't look good.

In the summer England resembled Pierikos of Katerini, with "our" Stevie expected to pull things out of the fire.

The question I 'd ask is what English players are there abroad in top class teams, as that might even up things.

What could be the answer ?

All systems failed.

English players were told not to kick the ball high in the air, some Beckhams and Rooneys came forward over the years but no juice.

Everybody else has something to show. Germany, Holland, Spain, France win world cups-euros and never sink too low. The Dutch though their league is unimportant now did very well in the world cup. But England teams are like falling stars. You see them now, next they disappear.
