Diego Costa

Do you know what striker type is worst for Chelsea? Classic give-me-great-ball-do-everything-for-me-and-I'll-always-tap-it-in number 9. Past his prime Shevchenko, Torres etc.

Chelsea doesn't have attacking play needed for that kind of a striker.

I firstly thought that Costa was different, that he can do things by himself... But he just can't.

You're right Diego Costa has been a late developer, he really had to work for it, still there are a lot of bad touches in his game.

He definitely knows the streets, maybe with the combination of all the work he had to put in, he has become that aggressive.

That shouldn't be an excuse, sometimes he's over the line, but i can only speak for myself, in general i like his style of play.

Costa has proven himself in Spain and in England, he was one of the leaders for two Championships and one UCL final.

In my point of view, that's why he is on a different level than Remy, who was never the top dog in his position at a top club.

Now we can debate what's required for being a star player.

You made fair points, Costa hasn't been one of the top striker for years, the timeline is manageable.

Our opinions differ, not a problem for me. :)

No problem for me either, I respect your opinion ;)

Personally I don't like his style of play (even tho it's effective when he's on).

But I'll admit I'm biased against him, I hate the guy he's an absolutely horrendous human being. That video where he kicks that little kid is one of most disgraceful things I've ever seen.

Mourinho biggest mistake this season was giving Costa too much credit. I mean, he was FAT in the start of the season. How can a professional start a season like that is beyond me.

I hope the Cavani rumors are correct.

I have personally wanted Cavani a long time ago, I think he ticks all the boxes and for me is a brilliant striker.

Great ball-playing striker is what we need. Would be good for evolution of our attacking play too. It just makes sense. Player like Aguero, Suarez.

From 2005. to 2012. we had physical squad - Ballack, Lampard, Essien, etc. and Drogba was great for that.

Now we have great ball-playing squad - Hazard, Willian, Fabregas, even Matić is not bad for a DMF so striker with good tech and dribbling would fit us great.

EDIT:

But not only dribbling/tech. He need to have other quality too. Either some of strength and height (Ibra-like), or some speed (Aguero, Suarez like).

hmmm...see the 'bib' malarkey has been blown all out of proportion.

From him laughing with Mikel dropping it over his shoulder, it has turned into he threw the thing at the manager.

And as for the 'warm ups'...the manager did say that him and his staff controlled that and Costa did what was asked of him. Some other subs were also missing from pre match warm up.

Lots of mountains being made out of molehills here and even though Costa ain't no angel.....there seems to be a lot of buying into the media BS by jump on the bandwagon merchants on here.

No one except Chelsea staff knows what intentionally happened ref bib and missing warm up.....so until known facts come out, am afraid I will have to go by what the manager has said about Costa about the incidents...because at the moment, there is nothing else to go on

Why are you guys so upset? Yes, he's a cunt, but he's OUR cunt!

Plus, this is just the type of player he is. This is how he gets himself fired up. If it weren't for this kind of behavior he wouldn't be half the player he is (which would be catastrophic because this season he's been a league two player at best).

:D :D :D

Definitely! 'Professional' player my ass, what justification is there for players reporting back for duty overweight? Their whole lifestyle should be catering for their physical requirements to be a footballer. They're paid thousands of pounds a week to do so!

Goes to show how unprofessional Eden Hazard is too. He returns every season having ate all the pies!

Have to say that Costa has me totally baffled........Last season he was scoring for fun, running off the ball, getting into dangerous positions, out-muscling defenders and hitting the target with at least a couple of dangerous shots per game. This season WTF!! Not scoring, can't be arsed to run into dangerous positions, has taken to assaulting defenders rather than challenge them, shots few and far between, and really looks like a guy who couldn't give a damn whether we win or lose. I get the feeling he doesn't see any of our other strikers as a serious threat to him. Well when he gets dropped and we replace him with a midfielder I can understand if that was how he feels. I also dont think we should read too much into what the papers say, but I personally was a bit dissapointed with him dropping his bib. I dont think he was throwing it at Mourinho but it didn't look good for a club professional to act so petulantly. How would it look if all the subs done that? The guy must realise that he is not cutting it and needs to improve. It's not personal (from Mourinho) but he was dropped because he is playing pure shite. When and if he gets back in the side he will need to prove that he can lead the attack. I watched him against Tel-Aviv and I thought he was awful and he deserved to be benched for the Spurs game, but to replace him with a midfielder sent out the wrong signal to him, the opposition and our supporters. If he had been replaced with a striker who perhaps scored he might see his positioned under threat. But to replace with with a midfielder and end up not scoring will not bother him one little bit. If anything he will feel that his place is now stronger as he wasn't replaced with a goalscorer, so has no-one to fear.

I can't figure out whether I want him to stay or go......But I would like to see him play to his full potential, respect the club, the manager, the jersey.....and the bib :clown:

Exactly. Ronaldo is the best example of how a pro should behave.

Neymar changed his diet and look at him now, final 3 in the ballon d'or. Djokovic did the same since 2010 and since then he dominated tennis.

I truly think clubs should give these millionaire players personalized diet schedules of what they must eat, even in the summer.
