Diego Costa

I know there's a lack of top 'traditional' strikers everywhere, but you just can't call a player world class when half our academy has better technique than him - and I'm being generous there.

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate Diego. I think his movement is among the best I've seen from a striker, his instincts are good and on form his finishing is exceptional. But, in addition to his lack of technique, he's weak in the air, his ball retention is almost nonexistent and his decision making can often be well below the level of the team; he chooses to dribble so many times, especially on the wings, despite the fact that he's so predictable and bad at it that even the weakest defenders can stop him most of the times. But all that doesn't take away from the fact that he can be an excellent striker if we play to his strength.

To me, this is like when people were calling Matic the best DM in the world, or Thibaut the best GK in the world, almost no one without blue-tinted glasses thinks that. Doesn't mean that all of them aren't/can't be very good.

AM SUPPOSEDLY put in a £40mill bid

Atletico Madrid to offer £40m for Diego Costa as they step up their pursuit of the Chelsea forward

And I read a report in Mirror saying Conte is leaving Costa out  annowt to do with a back injury.

Antonio Conte shows Diego Costa who's boss by leaving brooding Chelsea striker out of Real Madrid clash

Not gonna happen I think. In what world would we sell Diego Costa for £40m and buy Lukaku for £60m? That's putting us back in the striker department AND £20m!

I mainly think Costa's injured. Don't see him leave.

Really hope thats it mate.

But theres no way I'd sell him for £40 lets play hardball and see just how much they want him (BUT we buy a replacement first)

People on here really think Costa's World Class? Really? He's a very good striker but the tag is completely devalued if we're calling him World Class. Simply too many flaws in his game & he isn't even the most clinical forward regardless.

I'd take about 5/6 different center forwards ahead of him.
