So the club, Conte, Costa and his agent knew from January what's the situation about this guy.

And after Conte sent him THAT message, he got surprised? Right... It now sounds to me like Conte only REMINDED him that he isn't in his plans for next season, via SMS. Costa wanted to lower his price, and he did it greatly, with the help of it.

It doesn't matter who the teams are you don't wear another club's top while you're still playing for your parent club.

I think it has everything to do with two things. First being the baggage that comes with him, second being that he explicitly has stated several times that Atletico is the only team where he wants to play.
