Just throw in a shit hot RW a tougher stronger defensive Cescy, a upgrade for Cahill and a backup/upgrade if possible for the WBs and we would do a good run in Europe. It's the kind of money that takes care of generations of his family. If offered 3x your wages, I think most people would get their resignation in ASAP. It's unfortunate for us as a club, the timing is terrible. But, we're on the other side of the fence all the time. Napoli didn't want to sell Koulibaly to us, they didn't. We tried, but it didn't work. The player wanted to come. I'm sure OM wanted to keep Bats, but they money was right, so they sold. Loyalty in football these days is a one-way street (for the most part). Loyalty = If you're a really good player, we (fans) want you to stay at the club. If they aren't up to scratch, we can't wait to see the back of them. I'd love for him to stay at the club, because he's an important player. But, I don't blame him for taking care of himself and his family. But, I will say, the club should hold out for more money. If they want to pay him 500K a week, and Oscar is worth 60. With this in mind, I would give him 250-275k rather than 200k for his new contract. He truly is a top 5 player in the league in my opinion and replacing him would be close to impossible (getting the same strike rate Costa offers in the prem from another striker) so I say just give him the money he wants and keep him until 2022. Back in Brazil that money would go very far. I can understand players with wife and kids wanting to earn that money, but a single guy playing football on 100-150k per week is more than sufficient. This is a case of Costa earning around 4-5Mpounds net, after tax and a Chinese club offering him 30M pounds net, after tax... That is a HUGE pay increase and any and every human on this planet who would get offered such a deal would at least pause and take the time to consider it. He can play 4 seasons there and get more than 100,000,000 pounds, that is an amount that is very hard to turn down for anyone...
