Cesc Fàbregas

I wouldn't mind Fab as a rotational player one bit. Kante, Jorginho, Cesc would obliterate all smaller bus parking teams. Golovin to play in tougher games with Fabregas a super sub. Question is would he accept this role? There are plenty of minutes to play across the season, so hopefully yes.

I changed my mind, this rat thinks he is better than he is. Get rid.

We need to stop thinking like a second rate club and thinking of offloading good players purely for wages. Cesc still has plenty to offer here, Jorginho coming in gives us a proper controlling midfielder and frees him up to do the more offensive stuff hes good at. Even if Cesc is a bench player and comes on as an impact sub he got like 12 assists the first year under Conte doing that, it makes absolutely no sense to offload him especially now we've got an offensive minded manager coming in and a controlling midfielder to take the burden off Cesc in terms of dictating games from a deeper position, it will give him a chance to get closer to Eden, Morata, the other offensive players and combine with them as well as get into the box. Also do you think Sarri comes in, knowing hes got a player with Cesc Fabregas' skill set and bins him instantly? No chance.

do u think cesc will be happy sitting around being a squad player I doubt that very much

I don`t see Jorginho taking his spot.he`s taken Bakayoko`s spot. have hopefully Golovin and Barkley compete for the other spot..Cesc if he stays..Golovin could get enough games filling in at all 3 CM positions over the course of the season.

I still see comments about once a gooner always a gooner - so you don't think Cesc has helped Chelsea at all? He came here because he wanted to win in England and he has done.

He's been a good solid player for us - moaning about his defensive work is ridiculous, the guy doesn't defend well - he needs to be used like Pirlo.

He is without doubt the best passer in the team and he can unlock a game with 1 pass. You want to drop that from your team?

He didn't kick up a fuss in the first season under Conte and more importantly he forced himself into the team. He is a professional, regardless of what people think of him, he has never complained at being on the bench while here but instead always opted to say he will try force himself in and he did. His legs aren't what they used to be but he still can provide plenty to this team, selling him would be a huge mistake in my eyes. He is in a similar place to what Hamsik was in at Napoli, aging, people unsure if he could replicate his performances under a new manager, same old usual stuff but I think Sarri as a football manager who loves offensive football will love having an option like Cesc in his squad, in terms of technique and vision there aren't many MF players on the same level as him, so open him up in a team with 4/5 passing options, lots of interchanging, attacking intent and movement off the ball? He will definitely be useful from the start or from the bench. I don't think people appreciate what he can still offer because in a more reactive team with a 2 man MF he was too easily bypassed but in a 3 man MF with Jorginho and Kante? He will have more freedom, more licence to influence the play higher up the pitch because somebody is building from deeper (Jorginho). Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he replicates his level from that first year we signed him.

People talk about finally getting an offensive minded manager to free Eden up or whatever but Cesc could be one of the biggest beneficiaries of Sarri coming in.

I agree. Cesc is not the wc players we all hiped he would be, not a leader or a runner but he is a great option from zhe bench and for the odd start. Can’t blame his attitude too. Has won it all and still raring to go and help the team

Everyone is so quick to dismiss him, but I don't want him to go anywhere.  And, I want him to get a new contract as well.

Okay, he's limited, yes, but IMO, that's why you have him do the thing he's really good at.  For me, that's finding the space and making the smart pass.  Not trying to be a Vidal or Nainggolan.  In our 343, he had to cover 40% of the pitch as a box to box player.  That was never his game, but he made it work as best he could and forced himself to be selected.

I think he is a great bench option to have.  Jorginho can't play every match, and no one else in the team can find the space and link up play like Fabs can.  He's the only back up for Jorginho.  He can also play further up the pitch in a pinch as well.
