Yet he was the best player on the pitch against Arsenal.....

I thought he was fine tonight anyway. He made a brilliant pass for Oscar who unfortunately could not execute the finish.

Talk about overreaction. WOW.

Once a season against top opposition? Thats the level of his consistency then.

One free kick absolves him of everything else? He was pathetic today. In the first minutes itself, Zlatan went past him like he was not even there, similar to what Silva had done to him against City when we were outclassed at the start of the season.

I would rather have a decent CM who can build up play rather than simply put in Quarter Back like passes against oppositions who would give him more space and time than he could imagine.

Also, over-reaction is when people say Cesc is World class for his Newcastle performance. It is not an over-reaction to say that we need a Starter CM for next season because Cesc simply does not cut it against quality opposition and by quality opposition I mean teams like Soton too which can press him and have a field day.

When we played our best stuff he was heavily involved. He also did so much defensive work, which so many people criticize him about., sure he doesn't quite have the mobility that PSG have in Matiudi and Verrati but he has that ability to control a game/be influential and with Mikel next to him in various phases of the game he did good but when PSG started to push and push they outnumbered us in midfield and started to overrun us which can happen.

This runs much deeper than Cesc. We set up to counter attack as a team. We were never going to dominate possession and build up play from deep.

Just laughing at Pirlo comparissons...only thing two have in common is passing in open play. And even then, Pirlo could execute those passes under pressure, he could keep the ball under pressure. Cesc cant do either of that. Then we come to set pieces. Pirlo is good fk and corner taker. Cesc, for someone with his vision and passing, his corners and FKs are absolute shit.

He had decent game tonight tho, but he will never have fighting spirit or influence that lets say Veratti has.

Thought he was decent today. He made some good passes, especially the one to Oscar that Costa would've scored probably. Worked hard defensively as well. though you can't expect him to stop mobile players like Matuidi and Veratti.

Was good in the first half and played a couple of great balls in the second but we really needed him to get more involved in the second half and get on the ball but he just didn't.

Also, you're one of the most experienced players in the team and supposedly the best passer in the team, don't give the ball away so cheaply in dangerous areas especially when the team is doing so much work to get it back.

Ballack on BT Sport after the game: "I must say, that I've been impressed with Fabregas. He's a serious player. He knows what he's doing on the pitch. Even if he's not very active on television, he always make 80-90% of right decisions in terms of passing, in terms of running, in terms of closing space".

Would we set up to counter If we had a pivot of say, vidal and pogba? We set up to counter even against the likes of liverpool and spurs because as a team we can not dominate possession against any decent side.

Cesc is supposed to be our midfield general, the player through whom everything needs to go through. You cant have your lynchpin losing the ball every time someone presses him. Hence, why i said that we need an upgrade starter on him next season without a shred of doubt.

Lol clueless. He was very good tonight.

Are you a 10 year old? Who uses "LOL" these days. Also, put something on the table as an argument.

Because you're probably an idiot if you thought he was poor yesterday. He performed miracles despite our CB's inability to pass the ball. Even rival fans were saying he was very good.

Did didierforever make another account to hate on Cesc more?

I actually don't look at Fabregas as our midfield general at all because he's not that sort of player. He's more of a playmaker than a general. He lacks the physicality for you to call him a lynchpin or general. A midfield general would be someone like Vidal, Ballack, etc. They all have one big thing in common - physicality. You shouldn't expect that from Cesc.

We can't dominate against big teams because we don't set ourselves up to - and because we don't have the right players to. It starts from the back - our centre backs are generally not good at building from the back - the only player that can actually make plays from deep in midfield for us is Cesc too. We have a massive lack of possession-comfortable players for us to go out there and dominate against big teams.

Well put. Cant argue with this. Even though there are midfield generals in the mold of xavi-iniesta who are not physically gifted but such players are born once in the life time. (I think KOKE is of the same mold).

One thing I dont understand is how asking for a starter CM for next season is an over-reaction. We desperately need one CM and one CAM who are "possession-comfortable" (as you put it).

He's arguably the best player in the League on current form. He's playing out of his mind since the sacking. It's not just a time and space thing either, even against PSG he was very good under pressure. Defensively he's obviously still susceptible but he's been much better in that aspect as of late.
